There are four types of forest – Tropical Rainforest, Temperate __________ Forest,
Temperate _________Forest and ________ (taiga) Forest. Let’s have a look at every type.
We will also focus on the animals and plants which live in each type of forest.
Tropical Rainforest
___________ _________ contain the largest _________ __ _______ and plant
species on earth. We can find them around the equator. Tropical means very hot weather
throughout the year. There is no winter. Rainforest means a lot of rain.
Tall and broad-leafed trees are typical plants of rainforests. Plants provide shelter and
food for rainforest animals. The three most interesting plants are Bromeliads, ________ and
Orchids. Bromeliads are related to the pineapple family. Their thick and waxy leaves are used
for catching rainwater. Lianas are a type of climbing vine in tropical rainforests. ________ are
beautiful flowers of different shapes and colours.
A variety of _____, bats, monkeys, _______and other animals can be found in tropical
rainforests. Unusual and colourful animals live in rainforests. All types of creatures are
represented, from tiny _______to large mammals. The most common are toucan, sloth and
poison-arrow frog.

Scandinavia, moose)
Boreal (taiga) Forest
This is the last type of forest. Boreal forests or _____ can be found in Canada,
northern Asia, Siberia and ____________. Boreal forests are characterized by ____ _______
and short summers. There is cold weather and a lot of snow. North of this region is _______,
which doesn’t support tree growth.
Flora is similar to coniferous forest. Trees are mostly evergreen and include species
such as fir, pine and ______. Animals must adapt to long, cold winters and usually have thick
fur. A variety of animals live in boreal forests______, elk, caribou, wolves and _______bears
are some examples.
People cannot live without forests. They are an important part of our ______. The four
main ______ are divided into many subtypes. There is something different and unique about
each type. A forest is a complex of changing ________ made up of _____ (animals) and
______ (plants). We should protect forests for future generations.
