Chapter 4

Renesmee’s POV

“Renesmee!” Someone called me. I cleared my thoughts. Itilted my head to see Alice.

“Come ‘ere’” She said.

I walked towards her. I looked behind me to see if Austin wasstill there. He was nowhere to be found. Even his car was notfound in the parking lot. What was wrong with him?

“Come on!” Alice said impatiently. I followed her. Shestopped where my family stood. –Awkward silence-

“How much did he tell you?” Mom asked me. I looked at her“He told me everything. Everything he had ever known” Ianswered.

“Renesmee I’m sorry” Mom apologized “I shouldn’t have hidthings like this from you. It’s my entire fault”



“Mom, actually I am so sorry… I was really rude and I didn’teven know how the words came out of my mouth just likethat” I said, ashamed of myself.

“I’m sorry dad” I apologized to my dad

“It’s okay sweetheart… We did a wrong thing too” Dad said. Inodded.

“Guess the rest of the conversation lies with the dog”Rosalie provoked a comment.

“Wha-“ Before I could say that, I saw a tall creature comingtowards us. Jacob.

“Hey Nessie” He breathed.

“I guess I was right... Anyways we were leaving bye” SaidAunt Rose and left the place. The others waved us goodbyeand went towards their cars. It was only me and Jacob.

“I am driving you home” He said “Kay” I whispered.

We walked towards his rabbit.

I made myself comfortable in it. Jacob started the engine. Iwas lost in my thoughts. Austin was such a mystery.Everything about him made me really curious. His weirdpurple eyes, pale and cold hard skin. I gasped. Was he a…Vampire? No he couldn’t be… If he was one, my familywould have found it earlier.

“Nessie!” “Nessie!” Called Jacob and shook me “What’swrong?” He asked. Of course, he would have sensed myfear.

“Nothing… Just thinking about my day” I lied. Renesmee! You’re getting good at lying.



“Really?... What did you do today at school?” He asked me,like how a father asks his child. I decided to explain abouteverything that happened today, except Austin. For somereason, I did not want Jacob to find out about him.

“Do you have any homework to do today, Ness?” Jacobasked. “mmh.. No, because it’s my first day” I answered. Henodded.

“Why?” I asked curiously

“Nothing… I was just planning to take you to La Push andmeet the pack. My way of congratulating you, because youwent to School for the first time” He said glancing at me and

at the same time concentrating on the road.

“That’s not nothing Jacob… I would love to come to LaPush… It’s been like forever since I met the pack” I said. Itwas true. Those guys were like my brothers. Or a sistermight I add. And their girlfriends were like my best friends.Emily, Kim, Rachel and I got together pretty well. We used tohang out a lot when I was young. But now, I kinda lost touchwith them all.

“Good because the girls would literally kill me if I don’t bringyou there” He added with a laugh. I snorted.

I sighed “First of all, I have to ask my dad”

I was really thankful that my dad permitted me to go to LaPush. He trusted me with Jacob. That was good.

Jacob pulled over at Billy’s house to grab some food for thepack and also for him.



“Is Billy home?” I asked Jacob, while we walked towards hissmall red house.

“Yeah… I think he is” He said, peeking through the window

to make sure if Billy was there. Billy Black, Jacob’s father wasa good man. He treated the Cullens good despite of thedifferences. He loved me like a daughter, which made mefeel good. I had always been with Jacob’s father when I was achild. But now, I am sure that he would get a different viewof me.

“Dad!” Jacob called his father.

“In the living room, son” I heard Billy answer.

Jacob gestured me to walk in and I did “Hey Billy!” I said.Billy turned his attention from the television to me. Hewheeled towards me.

“Ah, Nessie!... I almost didn’t recognize you dear… God lookhow beautiful you are!” He complimented. I blushed.

Billy was growing old. He did have some health problems. I

could see the weakness in his face. He had bags under hiseyes and an old wrinkled face with some alternate strands of white hair in his jet black hair.

“Do you want something to eat?” Billy asked me. Before Icould even answer, Jacob yelled from the kitchen…

“No dad, we’re fine… We were just leaving” He came outwith some snacks in his hands

“Ready to go, Nessie?” He asked me.

“Yeah” I answered “Bye Billy” I said “Bye dad” Jacob saidand we headed outside.

“Where are we going now?” I asked him



“To Emily’s. The guys and the girls are there” He said andstarted the car.

Well! I hope going to La Push will distract me from things!

Jacob’sPOV

Ness and I were heading to La Push. The reason why I wasbringing Nessie to La Push was that I felt like I was gettingseparated from my future girlfriend. I wanted to be with her.I needed to be with her. And I thought that High School wasseparating me and Ness. So I decided to come up with areason and tried to get Nessie alone with me for at least aday. Well tomorrow was Saturday but…Still it hurt me to beaway from Nessie.

The pain was unexplainable. Well now that I am alone withNessie… I want this to go well.

To be honest, it was not going well. My palms gripped thesteering wheel tight and I had sweaty palms! My heartstarted beating crazy around her!

“Well… I don’t like this one” Nessie said suddenly. I didn’tknow what exactly she was talking about until she tried toreach her hand towards the car’s stereo. She didn’t like

country songs, I get it. I wanted to make it easier for her, so Ialso tried to reach the stereo to change the song. Our handstouched. It sent a shock through my spine as soon as ourskin came in contact. She must have noticed it.

Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes found my eyes. I satthere, like an idiot and stared at her for a while.



I thought I heard a car coming in the front. I quickly turnedmy attention towards the steering wheel and pulled over to acorner. I heard the man in the other car yelling at us.

“Woah!” She said as she took deep breaths. “Are you okay?”I knew that I sounded like an idiot but whatever that justhappened now, was my fault. I shouldn’t have stared at herlike that. What to do? She was a queen of distraction!

Once we both relaxed, I started the car again. I stillremember the expression on her face when we looked ateach other. Did she feel it too? Did she feel what I felttowards her too? Love?

Well, I hope she did…..

Soon, we reached Emily’s. Sam, Paul, Jared, Brady, Collin,

Quil and Leah were there chatting with each other. The restof the imprints were not there. I am guessing they would betaking a walk in the beach.

Luke and Cole, who recently joined Sam’s pack, were alsothere. The pack was getting larger nowadays!

Nessie and I got out of the car. She landed her feet on theground gracefully.

“Hey kiddo!” Yelled Paul, getting everyone’s attentiontowards us. Nessie blushed. God! How much I loved thatblush!

“Hey” Nessie said shyly. I fist bumped with Paul. Paul and I,surprisingly got together pretty well. Besides the ‘You-



imprinted-on-my-sis-and-you-stole-my-food’ thing… We werefine. Everyone in the pack greeted Nessie happily, evenLeah. They thought of her as family, which made me happy.

“You’ve grown a freaking lot!” exclaimed Jared. I shot him aglare and he looked down.

“I know” Nessie whispered quietly. I noticed everybody’slooks, they were happy to see her; But I didn’t like the wayLuke stared at her. Like he had never seen a girl before.

Though he was a new member of the pack, he knew aboutthis ‘imprinting’ thing. He must learn to control himself before I phase and rip him off into shreds!

“Is that lollipop?” We all heard a voice behind me. Ness and Iturned back to find Emily, Kim and Rachel.

“Emily, Kim, Rachel!” Nessie exclaimed happily but lowly.‘Lollipop’ was Nessie’s nickname from the imprints, becausethey loved her pink cheeks and her sweet blush. Theimprints would also call me ‘Chocolate’. I didn’t know whythey called me like that until Rachel explained to me thatchocolates and lollipops are a great combination…

Whatever.

Nessie hugged each one of them. “I missed you!” She said tothem “We missed you too, lollipop!” They said in unison.

“You still haven’t stopped calling me that!” complainedNessie, which made them laugh.

“You don’t know how much these girls were threatening poor Jakey to get you down here. Too whiney” Paul said to Nessie,earning a growl from me. I still don’t know what my sisterliked it in Paul. He was always ordering everybody, speaksdirty than the rest of the pack and an arrogant wolf; whereasRachel was kind-hearted and a down to earth person. I guessimprinting can also attract exact opposites!



“Where’s Claire?” Nessie asked, changing the subject.

“She went to her playschool… She’ll return soon” Quil saidconfidently and more to himself. He missed her and couldn’t

stay away from her. Poor Quil!

“Oh” Nessie said.

“Come on!... We have lots to talk about” Said Kim andcaught Nessie by the hand. Please, don’t go away from my sight My heart begged. But my thoughts were interrupted byan agonized howl which erupted through the forest.Everyone tensed and the imprints gasped. Embry was introuble!

Seth came running from the forest. He was sweating badly“Help!.... Embry and I were trying to track down a vampire…But it attacked him” He said, which made the whole pack runinto the forest to phase. I looked at Nessie apologetically. Astupid bloodsucking leech just ruined the time I could spendwith my Nessie. Damn it! I cursed in my thoughts.

“Seth… I have to go phase… Take Nessie home!” I

demanded. He hesitated for a moment, because he did notwant us to hunt down the vampire alone but then he listenedto me. I ran to the forest as fast as I could. I could feelNessie’s worried gaze on the back of me. But I had to go andsave my brother. I heard the sound of an engine and Sethand Nessie were not there.

I phased into a wolf, leaving my clothes get ripped in theprocess.

Jacob… Paul and I will take care of Embry… You and your pack go try to hunt the leech Sam’s deep voice entered mymind.

We took different directions. I ran towards the scent. It washeading towards the west. I could smell it.



I was nearing it. And that was when I got a glimpse of theleech’s face. It had weird purple eyelids. Like it had worn ablue lens over its natural crimson red eyes. The vampire was

jumping from tree to tree. I almost caught the hem of hisshirt and tried to bring him down… But he tried to gotowards another direction.

I followed him. He was nearing the cliff and so was I. Thatwas when he jumped into the water, leaving me cluelesswith no trace of him.

I was still watching the water, expecting for that leech tocome out. But, I could not smell him because of the water.

With dissatisfaction, I headed back into the woods.

Whatever this stupid creature was… It was freaky! Not likethe other vampires we have hunted so far.

This creature must have come here for a cause. Forsomeone. For the Cullens maybe. But I promised myself thatI wouldn’t even let it lay a finger on my Nessie. That freakingleech will never touch her.

If only, it was out there for her…..
