United for the CityManchester was the latest Olympic hosting city to receive the DTS Gathering treatment.

Train, do and serve! That’s the aim of each DTS Gathering: to train the Discipleship Training Schools (DTSs) in evangelism, to get out there and do outreach, and to serve and build relationships with the local churches in the city. The Manchester Gathering was no exception.
We had 66 people attending from eight YWAM locations in the UK and Europe (Carlisle, Harpenden, Nuneaton (The King’s Lodge), Leeds, Liverpool, Wrexham, York and Norway). The trainees heard teaching on evangelism from Yan Nicholls, Connie Taylor and Carl Tinnion (YWAM England’s national leader), and experienced many types of outreach, such as sports, arts, cleaning the streets,

treasure-hunting, and evangelising during a concert and a family fun day.
One of the main highlights was building on the relationship YWAM England already has with the main church we worked with, New Hope Church. It was a successful week, with everyone involved in reaching out in Hulme and the surrounding boroughs in Manchester, and seeing people come closer to God.

Planting with forever in mindThe ongoing development of the Olympic venues provides food for thought. Each issue we will take one aspect and give it a spiritual twist ...
As spring comes, so life is blossoming in the Olympic Park. According to the official Games website (www.london2012.com), more than 1,500 trees have been planted in the Park, including wild cherries, along with thousands of wetland plants. It is estimated that 250 acres of new parklands will be created.
As the site says, “The parklands will provide a colourful and festival atmosphere for the London 2012 Games and afterwards become the largest new urban park in the UK for over a century.”
This is all part of the aim to make this Games the most “green” and sustainable ever, and to leave a legacy after the Games finish.
The challenge for us as Forever, and as Christians in the UK and the world,
is, what are we going to plant during this Olympic season? What are we going to see blossom? What legacy are we going to leave after the Games, in terms of changed lives and changed communities? Let’s not waste this God-given opportunity.

The nations are coming to the Olympic outreach! So far, we have had interest or the promise of outreach teams from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, China, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Mali, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, South Korea, Sweden, and USA.
