I like living in the children’s home because staff and other young people are nice to me. When I was younger and living in a foster placement I didn’t get on well with many people but the BRS has helped me find somewhere that I want to live.

What is pain? Two kinds of thingsOne when your hurt yourself and one when someone does it for you

Pain, that is what is on my brainNothing but pain and more pain.

 I just wish it would go away back from where it came

I lay in bed and I wished I was deadBut then the pain would just be on my mother’s brain

And I’ve already given her enough hurt and pain by playing my game

And she would go insane! 

I cut my arms and try to slit my veinBut some nice policeman will come and save me again?

They take me away because they think I am insane!They phone social services and tell them again

But they just lock me away and say I’m insaneBut really I am just in pain

 I’ve done OD’s and tried to hang

But heyMaybe they’re right

I am insane?

• Give time out when young people get all stressed and need to be alone to think things over

• It helps if teachers know how to deal with

pupils who are angry

• Please think about brothers’ and sisters’ needs too

• Take the time to listen to young people and let them talk about their problems

• Take us for how we are now, not how we used to be

• If everyone talked to each other they wouldn’t need to keep asking us
