Process Description ~ Forging (metals)
• A set of dies are prepared that rough out, then
gradually approach, the shape of the finished
product.
• The metal to be forged is heated until it will form
easily
• The heated metal is impacted in the die, producing a
change in shape and (usually), flashing
• The die is opened and the part is removed.
• The part is trimmed for the next forging die.
