FORM (C) TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Undergraduate:

a) Course MDPM 407 (3rd Year Pre-clinical Pharmacology):

A four-credit hour introductory pharmacology course to provide a working

knowledge and understanding of principles of pharmacokinetics,

pharmacodynamics and the rational use of drug.

Teaching is carried out through formal lectures, tutorials, and workshops on

selected topics and laboratories. This course being offered twice a year.

b) Course MDPM 457 (4th year clinical pharmacology):

A three credit hour course covering the pharmacology of the important organ

system. This course is aimed to provide a core of basic knowledge of clinical

pharmacology and toxicology. Teaching is carried out through formal lectures and

tutorials. This course is offered twice a year.

c) Course MDPM 517 (5th year clinical pharmacology):

A two-credit course that includes a two-week clinical rotation to cover clinical

pharmacology such that medical student can apply his/her knowledge to patients

and patient oriented problems. Teaching is carried out through formal lectures

(two lectures/week /semester) in addition to the tutorials and clinical case

presentations during the clinical rotation. The clinical rotation is offered three

times each semester.

d) Course MDPM 311 Pharmacology for B.Sc Nursing Student.

A two-credit hour pharmacology course aimed to provide the students with the

general pharmacological principles for the scientific basis of rational

administration of drugs in nursing practice. This course is conducted through

formal lectures and tutorials.

e) Course MDPM 360 Pharmacology for B.Sc Nursing Student:

A two-credit hour course covers systematically pharmacology of the important

organ systems and provide these students with an understanding of clinical

pharmacology and toxicology such that will enable them to apply this knowledge

of pharmacology to patients in the wards. This course is conducted through

formal lectures and tutorials.

f) Course MSRT 312 Pharmacology for B.Sc Respiratory therapy Student:

A three-credit hour pharmacology course aimed to provide the respiratory therapy

students with the general pharmacological principles for the scientific basis of

rational administration of drugs in respiratory therapy practice. The course give

special emphasis to bronchodilators and drugs used in COPD and preparations

such as enapolizers and aerosols. This course is conducted through formal lectures

and tutorials.

II. Post-Graduate Teaching:

Participated in teaching pharmacology courses for post-graduate residents in

surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Physiology and Obstetric and

Gynaecology. My participation was mainly in the following topics:

- Pharmacokinetics of Drugs

- Use and misuse of antimicrobial agents

- Therapeutic drug monitoring

- Drug-Drug Interactions

- Cancer Chemotherapy.
