Dear Jo Anne

This letter serves as documentation of my observation of your INGL 3103 class on October 19, 2015.

During my observation of your class you demonstrated to be highly knowledgeable of the class

content. Likewise, if was very impressed with your teaching skills, as a third semester Graduate

Teaching Assistant, which are very appropriate for our teaching environment.

The strengths of your class were:

The activity was very well organized and engaged students in critical thinking and self-guidedlearning. Students were very articulate in their arguments and could quickly follow up with

counterarguments.

Very good class management and time management skills.

You served as a resource but did not take over the class. Your role as moderator was well

executed, constantly reminding students of the argument and how to defend or argue against

them. You made sure that everyone participated and reminded students to listen to the evidence and be

respectful to each person stating an argument.

I was very impressed with the arguments and how students handled the debate.

Having two different topics was also a good way to hold a debate without it getting tediousbecause the new topics allowed for new arguments for and against.

Areas for improvement:

While you demonstrated to be knowledgeable of class content and confident in your teaching, there

were some areas in which I would like to make some recommendations.

The classroom was very dark. I noticed that some students had a hard time reading their notes.

Sometimes during the debate you referred to students as this person instead of using thestudents name.

Based on my observation of your class I believe you are complying well with the course requirements.

Your class far exceeded my expectations. Despite some minor details, for which I have made

suggestions, I am confident that you will consider my recommendations to continue growing as an

educator and developing what already are admirable teaching skills.
