FORMATION OF COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE
1) Most adjectives form their comparative degree by adding-er and their
superlative by adding-est to the positive.Eg: deep deeper deepest

") f the positive ends in #y$ and the #y$ is preceded by a consonant%the #y$ is changed into #i$ before adding-er and-est. &ut if the #y$ is

() f the positive ends in a consonants and the consonant is preceded by
a short vo!el% the nal consonant is doubled before adding-er and-est. Eg: hot hotter hottest dim dimmer dimmest fat fatter fattest

syllables% from the comparative by adding ‘more’ to the positive and
