The oath was administered at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Justice Ghose, the former Supreme Court judge, was on March 19 appointed as the country's first Lokpal, the anti-corruption ombudsman. President also appointed four Judicial members and four Non-Judicial members in Lokpal. Former Chief Justices - Dilip B. Universal Drug Susceptibility testing has been implemented in our Islands through CBNAAT Machines installed at GB Pant Hospital, RPH Mayabunder, BJRH Car Nicobar and CHC Nancowrie for early detection of Drug Resistant TB cases. DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short course Chemotherapy) with FDC (Fixed Drug Combinations) administered daily has been implemented throughout the Islands, which will improve the compliance to treatment and increase the treatment success rate. He will succeed Admiral Sunil Lanba who retires on 31st of May this year. According to an official release, Vice Admiral Singh is currently serving as the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. During Vice Admiral Karambir Singh appointed as next Navy Chief his long and distinguished service spanning nearly 39 years, he has served in a variety of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. New Delhi, Mar. 23 Indian Air Force will participate in Langkawi International Maritime Aero Expo, LIMA 2019. The expo will take place in Langkawi, Malaysia from 26th to 30th of this month. The Defence Ministry in a release said, Indian Air Force is participating in the Expo for the first time and it will showcase its indigenously developed Indian Air Force to participate in LIMA 2019 LCA fighter aircraft. The Ministry said, participation of Indian Air Force in LIMA - 2019 will provide an opportunity to air-warriors to interact with their Royal Malaysian Air Force counterparts and foster close relationship between the two services. Dr. D. Bhattacharya explained about the ill effects of parasite infestation and importance of deworming in different livestock. highlighting the significance of fisheries in the economy of A&N Islands, he called upon the fishermen to adopt

the eco-friendly fishing methods and comply with code of conduct for responsible fisheries to conserve the

resources for generations to come. Impact of plastics on the very survival of marine life including flagship species

like whales, dugong, turtles etc. were highlighted and urged the fishermen and general public to reduce the use of

plastics and stop dumping plastics in the sea.

In the technical session followed, the scientists and engineers of FSI, Dr. Dewanand Uikey, Dr. Annada

Bhusan Kar, Dr. Pratyush Das, Dr. M. Nashad and Dr. Shaji Thomas, Fisheries Inspector, Directorate of Fisheries

briefed on latest technologies in navigation, fish finding, safety at sea, repairs and maintenance of marine engines,

spatio-temporal aspects of fish abundance and significance of reducing marine pollution, especially those by

plastics, to the gathering including fishermen, PRI members and local citizens.

An open-house onboard the vessel MFV Matsya Darshini was also organized as a part of the programme.

The students from nearby schools, fishermen, staffs of private cruise boats and local citizens visited the vessel

berthed at the main jetty to witness the various navigational, marine engineering, communication, sea safety, fish

finding, fishing and fish preservation equipments and procedures onboard the vessel. Different species of

fishery resources including tunas, lobsters, carangids, snappers, rays, shark etc. were also exhibited.

As a part of extension and training activities, a 'coastal cleanup drive' was also organized, during which, the

Chattan beach near the main jetty was cleared off debris, plastics and other wastes. In addition to the staff of FSI,

PRI members, fishermen and tourists actively participated in this 'Swachhata programme', a communication from
