Our goal to package approximately 20,000 meals on June 4 will mark the fifth year that we have participated in this church-wide intergenerational project. As a result of our efforts, MBC will have packaged over 100,000 meals during these years! As we strive to end world hunger, please use this link to easily access the registration website. http://events.stophungernow.org/MBC2017 One registration is good for an entire household with minor children, however, anyone over 18 years will need to register for themselves. The registration process is required by Rise Against Hunger, and it also helps us determine the lunch and setup for the day of the event. Paper reg- istration sheets are available only for those who cannot register online, and they will be placed in Sunday school classrooms. Childcare will be provided for children under 4 years of age. We are well on our way to funding this event, as each meal cost $.29. There are several ways to make a donation. 1. E-giving: A category for Rise Against Hunger is listed. 2. On-line as part of the registration link with Rise Against Hunger. 3. By check. 4. Kroger Community Rewards: If you shop at Kroger, your purchases count toward the rewards that MBC earns. Log onto Krogercommunityrewards.com and sign in with your email and password. Click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and enter 83747; select Mechanicsville Baptist Church from the list, and click on confirm once more to enroll. Then just use your Kroger Plus card when you shop! (For a first-time user, you will need to sign up in the new customer box by entering the zip code, favorite store, email address, and create a pass- word before selecting the community rewards link.) If you do not have access to a computer, please call 1-800-853-3033, select option 3 for community rewards, & a Kroger representative will help you enroll with your Kroger plus card number. From the Pastor… Thomas Edison’s tribute to his mother: I did not have my mother long, but she cast over me a good influence that lasted all my life. The good effects of her early training I can never lose. If it had not been for her appreciation and her faith in me at a critical time in my experience, I would never likely have become an inventor. I was always a care-less boy, and with a mother of different mental caliber, I would have turned out badly. But her firmness, her sweetness, her goodness, were potent powers to keep me on the right path. My mother was the making of me. The memory of her will always be a blessing to me. On Sunday we will gather to celebrate Mother’s Day. It is a time to honor and remember our mothers, who for most of us, have had a positive influence on who we are. Mother’s Day is always bitter sweet for me, both my mother and grandmother, who had a tremendous influence on who I am today, have been gone now for many years. But the memories I have of them bring me comfort on these special days. Even though I no longer enjoy their physical presence, they are always close to my heart. If your mother is still with you, honor her on this special day and give thanks to God for the influence she has had and continues to have on your life. Pastor Tim

You’re Invited! Please join us as we celebrate the
