Broadway’s
friendship with the
congregation of Second
Baptist Church continues
to grow and bear fruit.
This Saturday, October
18, the men of both
churches will host a time
of fellowship and
sharing. And, imagine what fruit may grow from
that!
At 7:00 p.m., in Broadway’s Outdoor
Worship Area, these men will gather for
worship, music and conversation. Pastor Tim
Carson and Rev. Clyde Ruffin will provide the
leadership, with music from both churches—
and time to talk for everyone, before and after
the service begins.
Saturday should be a great evening to be
outside on a cool fall night in Missouri. This
event is open to all churches, so please share
this information with your
own circle of friends and
co-workers. There will
be plenty of cider and
snacks for all who
attend!
In the event that our
famous Missouri weather
doesn’t cooperate, the
event will be moved inside to our Fellowship
Hall. So rian or shine, join the men of
Broadway and Second Baptist for an evening to
remember.

In the past, youth
mission trip destinations
have been selected by
adult leaders, with the
youth becoming
involved for a final vote
between two possible
destinations. When we
are asking that our
youth provide leadership in so many other
areas, our adult leaders asked an important
question—why not open up mission trip site
selection to youth leaders as well?
These high school leaders were selected
after an application process. For the 2015 trip,
the youth mission leaders are Lily Fisher, Jacob
Bannon, Staton Zaner and ???? These leaders
will work closely with mission team veteran Luci
Fichter and Kahlea
Wilson to select the
2015 destination for
the team.
The team will
be tasked with
several important
aspect of planning
a successful youth
mission experience. Among the issues to be
tackled are work site research, worship themes,
fundraising and the all-important t-shirt design!
The team will do much of the research and
preparation, working with adult leadership and
youth mission team members.
Congratualtions to the members of our first
Mission Trip Planning Team—Braodway is
blessed to have such spirit-filled leaders among
our youth!

Leaves are falling by
the bagfull, the nights are
bordering on cold—what
could this possibly mean?
It is time for Broadway’s
annual Trick or Trunk, of
course!
On Sunday, October
26, everyone is invited to
be a part of the fun. If
you are long past trick or
treating yourself, maybe you would enjoy
decorating your vehicle and handing out treats to
our little friends and neighbors. Trick or Trunk is a
great activity for a small group or Sunday School
class as well—pool your creativity and candy and
spend an hours watching children smile!
If you can be a part of the fun and bring your
vehicle and passing out treats, you should arrive
in the west lot between 3:304:30 p.m. If you plan
to bring a vehicle, please sign up in the
Fellowship Hall or email Barb at
[email protected]. Trick or treating
will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the costume parade at
5:00 p.m.
For those who are unable to attend, donations
of bottled water and candy are greatly
appreciated. A collection box is located in
Fellowship Hall.

The few...the proud...the Broadway Moore
Mission Team!
Broadway’s mission to Moore, OK, will begin
on Sunday, October 19 through Saturday,
October 25. Our team of five members will
spend the week in Moore, a city which is still
recovering from a massive F5 tornado that struck
in the spring of 2013. Our team members are:
Jim and Sandy Stallman, Marilyn McCreary, Barb
Wyss and Marv Pederson.
The team’s work will vary, depending on the
needs of the community. It may mean
demolishing a damaged structure on day; and
then sorting cans at a local food panty the next.
As always, flexbility and the ability to “go with the
flow” are among the most importants tools in a
mission team kit!
This mission trip was fully funded for each
participant, thanks to over a yar of weekly
fundraising by Service/Misison and Outreach
Ministry members! What fundraising? For the
last year, MOM members have been cooking and
serving the weekly Youth dinner on Wednesday
evening. While the primary goal of serving the
Wednesday meals continues to be fundrasisng
for future mission trips, a secondary goal has
taken shape. The Wednesday night meals are
developing into true fellowship events, with
usually 12-15 adults who are also sharing the
meal.
The fellowshp meal begins at 5:30 p.m. each
Wedensday. The cost is $5 per person. The
meal is always “hot and ready,” and may we say,
much better than what comes out of a drive-
trhough window! Stop by on a Wednesday
evening after work and see what’s cookin’ at
Broadway!

A job desciption is avaialble upon request
from Debby in the church office. An applicant
should have a flexible schedule between
November 15, 2014-March 15, 2015. You may

If you are a new member or frequent
visitor, and you hear a reference to the
“Broadway Spirit,” do you think we have a
ghost of pastors past roaming our halls? We
don’t, but you can find out what we mean by
the Broadway Spirit and more during two
upcoming Sunday morning classes!
On Sunday, October 26, join Darren Day
in the Fellowship Hall at 10:10 a.m. for the
Broadway 201 class, a look back at our history,
and an overview of tradtions and current
ministries. In our Disciples 101 class, Roger
and Dixie Fisher will discuss the beliefs and
practices of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) on Sunday, November 9 at 10:10 a.m.
in the Fellowship Hall.
Do you have an hour or two to spend with
some of Broadway’s littlest Disciples?
Children’s Ministry needs a few extra hands
for the Kidzway program during our 9:00 a.m.
Traditional Worship service. Kidzway
encourages parents of young children, from age
three through third grade, to allow their children
to sit with volunteers and have a “big church’
experience of their own—staying in the
Sanctuary. The need for more volunteers has
arisen because more parents are bringing their
children into worship, and that’s what Kidzway
was desgined to encourage!
And if you like to cuddle babies, do we have
a job for you! Nursery Assistants are needed
during the Christian Education hour. For
information on either of these volunteer
opportunities, contact Barb at 445.5312 or
