Systems (SUDS) and have extensively

developed their systems over a number of

years. Trials carried out by the Transport

Research Laboratory at Crowthorne have

proved that the sub-base design is suitable for

over-run by Heavy Goods Vehicles and can be

used on roads, lorry parks and industrial hard

standings.

Geosynthetic materials are intrinsic to the

sub-base design of both the infiltration and

attenuation system. Formpave® Limited only

SC Intergrid

SC Membrane with Formtex protection fleece.

InbitexInbitex has been specifically developed to optimise the cleansing of waterentering the system. Various characteristics have been combined tocreate a unique geotextile that aids the development of naturally occurringmicrobes and offers them refuge during periods of drought. Thesemicrobes then digest hydrocarbons within the sub-base.

Research undertaken at Coventry University on microbial growth hasshown that the system using Inbitex is capable of degrading at least 70g ofoil per m2 per annum.

SC IntegridSC Integrid is an extruded, bi-axial, polypropylene geogrid having high tensilestrength in both directions and a uniform distribution of rectangular apertures.SC Integrid has rigid ribs and junctions which provide considerable confiningaction and increases the efficiency of the interlocking mechanism between thegeogrid and the cohesive granular fill.

The Formpave® system has been carefully researched and designed usingdata specific to SC Integrid. The design optimises the reinforcing effect ofSC Integrid, stone sub-base thickness and stormwater volumes.

SC MembraneSC Membrane has been specifically designed and tested for use withunderground stormwater storage systems. It is an impermeablemembrane for use on tanked systems and is generally the membrane ofchoice on smaller projects or where the contractor is happy to installhimself.

Geosynthetics Limited offer a wide range of impermeable membranes forall applications and also provide an installation service. WhereGeosynthetics Limited undertake the installation the membrane choice willbe project specific and all joints would be welded.

It should be noted that the impermeable membrane restricts water fromentering the sub-grade and preserves sub-grade structural integrity. Thisis very important for the future stability of the structure.

SC Tape SC Jointing Tape has been specifically designed and tested for use withunderground stormwater storage systems. It is used to form a permanentwatertight seal between two pieces of SC Membrane. Manufactured frominert materials SC Jointing Tape does not set or cure after placement in the joint.

FormtexWhen ground conditions are poor we recommend Formtex, a thick, toughgeotextile, to protect SC Membrane from puncture.

Formpave® Distribution TankWhere roof water is being discharged into the Formpave® system thedistribution tank enables efficient dispersal of the water throughout thesub-base. During periods of high rainfall there is a potential for thedrainage system to back-up. The Formpave` distribution Tank preventsthis by providing a free space within the system where the water cancollect as it disperses.

Top HatsTop Hats provide the outlet connections to the Formpave® system. Madefrom the same material as SC Membrane they are simple to attach and awatertight seal is easily made. The Top Hat incorporates a small pipesleeve to which the outlet drainage is easily connected.

Strip Drain + OutletStrip Drain is a perforated cuspated fin drain fully wrapped in geotextile.It provides a free flowing drainage void which allows the rapid movementof water. In stormwater attenuation applications it is important that thestored water is released in a controlled manner. To facilitate this StripDrain is laid along the two lowest sides of the system where it is used toguide water to the outlet pipe via the Strip Drain outlet.
