Lake Koshkonong and the Rock River

Lake Koshkonong is a 12 mile long man made lake fed by the Rock River which winds it’s way through Fort Atkinson.

At one time the lake was covered with wild rice that brought millions of ducks to feed.It was considered the best place in the world to hunt ducks, but since the constructionof the Indian Ford Damn the lake has become the 2nd largest inland lake in Wisconsin and all of the wild rice has disappeared along with the world famous duck hunting.
