Hello Partners!

It's an honor to welcome you to the 2018 edX Global Forum. Our theme this year—Transforming Education & Work—is designed to highlight the incredible advancements that we continue to make together, and the impact we hope to create for our learners around the world.

We are thrilled with the lineup of speakers and sessions we have in store for you over the coming days. On stage, you will hear from university, industry, and thought leaders on topics we believe to be of critical importance. In particular, we are excited to welcome two keynote speakers to share their insights with us: Saadia Zahidi, Head of the Centre for the New Economy and Society and Member of the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum, and Deb Bubb, HR Vice President and Chief Leadership and Learning Officer at IBM.

In addition to what we know will be two days of engaging presentations, discussion, and networking, we’re looking forward to an evening reception and dinner at the beautiful John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum—an opportunity to soak in some of the dramatic history of Boston and one of its most influential figures.

We look forward to an exciting few days here in edX’s backyard. Enjoy the conversation—we are thrilled to have you here with us.

My best,anant

Keynote Presentation: Embracing the Power of Lifelong Learning

9:00am – 9:45am Grand Ballroom A (2nd Floor)

Among the many powerful drivers of workforce transformation, two particular elements are driving lifelong learning: 1) the half-life of skills is getting shorter every day and 2) 50% of the children born today will live to be 100. Workers of the future will have to continually reinvent themselves in order to stay competitive and employable. It will also mean that companies that foster lifelong learning within their organizations will be the most in-demand places to work.

By embracing the principles of lifelong learning at every step in the employee journey —from recruitment to retirement—companies can see higher engagement and improved customer experience.

Join Deb Bubb, Chief Leadership, Learning and Inclusion Officer at IBM, as she discusses the key principles that helped ignite a culture of lifelong learning at this global technology giant, and shares how these principles can be applied in other industries and organizations.
