    Firs, les look a he Allied ghers.

    1) Wildca

    I know his selecion will surprise many people,as here are many who would pick he Hellca ashe bes Allied gher. However, I see he Wildcaas having one signican advanage cos. Te

    Wildca coss 3 poins less han he Hellca.Because ghers are normally brough in muliples,hose savings add up quickly. In mos siuaions,he Wildca is jus as good as he Hellca. Teyalways have he same vial armour, and i hey are

    boh hovering over a carrier hey have he sameAA as well. Te Hellca is a beter escor hankso is abiliy o shoo down enemy ghers, bu

    he Wildca will sui you perecly well i you needdeense. AA 7 and vial armour 9 is nohing osneeze a. ogeher, hey make he Wildca he

    bes Allied gher.

    2) HellcaI has AA 8, vial armour 9, and he abiliy oshoo down ghers. Oh yeah, and i can base ona carrier, oo. W has no o like? Well, he cos is

    a bummer, bu his is a gher ha you will rarelygo wrong wih. A smar acic is o ake one or woHellcas o do your escoring work, and use hecheaper Wildca o ll ou he res o your ghercore.

    3) MarleTis Wildca derivaive is cheaper han he original

    Wildca, can sill escor, is jus as good in AA, andis almos as survivable. Rugged eecively givesi vial armour 8.5, which is a healhy oal. Asan aside, here are ew sas on a War a Sea cardmore useless han he armour value o a gher. Ingames I have played, ghers almos never sraeexcep as a las resor or i he opponen ails o

    bring any aircra o shoo down. A gher couldhave armour 1 and i would be jus as useul as agher wih armour 7. Te wo key numbers on agher are AA value and vial armour. Everyhingelse is secondary.

    4) CorsairTis was a ough choice. I don like he Corsair.I suers by comparison o he Hellca. Isinabiliy o atack every urn and is inabiliy oreceive exper doggher bonuses make i a weaksubsiue or he power o he Hellca. Ta beingsaid, his is sill a erociously powerul aircra.I has AA 9, which ies i or he highes naural

    AA in he game, and i has vial armour 9, so i isvery survivable. I can also escor, which is veryimporan or a gher, and especially or one wih

    he Advanced Figher abiliy. Really, he Corsairand he Hellca are made or dieren purposes.Te Hellca is or use in an air ee, where you have

    bombers o cover and you have carriers available.Te Corsair is or use as gher cover or a non-air ee. You don have carriers anyway, so heHellca won be picking up any Exper Doggher

    bonus and i won be launching every urn. In hasiuaion, he Corsair is a bargain wih i s superior

    AA and abiliy o launch rocke atacks. Heck, ieven ges a bonus in shooing down Kamikazeswih is Advanced Figher. For pure power, heCorsair makes a respecable choice a ourh onhe lis.

    5) Sea HurricaneTis slo was very close beween he Sea Hurricaneand he D.520. However, he Sea Hurricane hasone major advanage over he D.520 escor. I is

    very difcul or opposing ghers o shoo downan escored bomber. In ac, in many games I doneven bring deensive ghers because I nd i is

    very hard o hi wih hem. Te greaes value oa gher is is abiliy o escor. Te Sea Hurricanehas ha, so i ranks above he D.520.

    6) D.520Well, you knew wha was coming nex. Te D.520is an excellen aircra. I has AA 7, and wihNimble i migh as well have vial armour 9. Is

    Inercepor abiliy makes i a good uni o deendagains incoming bombers wih. Te ac hahe D.520 is only he sixh bes Allied gher jusshows you he deph o ghers ha he Alliespossess.

    7) BeaufgherTe Beaugher doesn know wha i is. I issupposed o be boh a gher and a orpedo

    bomber, bu i doesn do eiher one well. Inohing else, i does give he Briish a way o

    drop orpedoes ha canno be easily abored ordesroyed, bu o course ha comes a he coso no being able o use Exper orpedoes. TeBeaugher jus doesn shape up o be a very goodaircra.

    Now ha we have seen he Allied ghers, lesmove on o he Axis ghers.

    1) B-109Is eecively he Axis Wildca. I has he samesas excep or swiching ou Deend Te Flatopor Inercepor and losing he abiliy o y CAP.Since he Wildca is he op Allied gher, hismus be he op Axis gher. Since he overall eldo Axis ghers is weaker, he B-109 sands oueven more han he Wildca does.

    A6M2, albei wihou he all-imporan Escorabiliy. I is acing as a bomber, is bomb 8 and

    vial armour 8 make i beter han a Val, andprobably beter han a Suka as well. You can usei as a gher early in he game, and hen swichi o a bomber when he opponen runs ou o

    bombers. Or, you can use i as a bomber early inhe game, and swich i o a gher i you ge hard-

    pressed. Te possibiliies are almos endless.

    5) FolgoreTe ac ha i is Land-Based is unorunae, sincei can only come ou every oher urn. Is also nogood a shooing down opposing aircra, wih is

    weak AA value. However, is relaively cheap andi can provide Escor, meaning ha i has some

    value. Pu wo on your land-base and alernaehem or an inexpensive escoring orce or your

    bombers.

    youll be shooing a bombers raher han ghers.Overall, he lack o purpose makes he A6M5 he

    wors Axis gher.

    Torpedo BombersMoving on, we come o he orpedo bombers.Tese end o be versaile atack aircra ha candeal wih batleships and subs eecively whilemainaining some abiliy o atack cruisers anddesroyers. Because batleships and subs end o

    be he mos powerul unis, is imporan or an airee o have orpedo bombers o couner hem.

    We begin wih he Allied orpedo bombers.

    1) TBF AvengerTis is wihou a doub he bes atack aircra inhe game. I will normally be atacking batleships,so i will normally have a base orpedo atack o4, and has beore i ges an Exper orpedoes

    bonus or a Shadowing bonus. Tis is he onlyorpedo aircra in he game ha probabiliy saysshould be landing a orpedo every urn. Tas noall, hough. I also has he games bes ASW valueamongs aircra, wih a value o 4. I i needs odeal wih cruisers, desroyers, or carriers, i alsohas an Alernae Payload o 7. op ha all o wihan almos impossible o hi vial armour o 9 and

    you have a powerhouse. Te Avenger has only oneweakness. Is armour o 5 is very hitable, meaningha i is airly easy o abor. Sill, his is a mus-have or any Allied air ee.

    2) TBF-1 AvengerI isn quie as good as is cousin, coming in wih

    ASW 3 and a orpedo value o only 2, bu issurvivable wih a vial armour o 8 and he Ruggedabiliy. Is no a grea choice, bu i will do in apinch.

    3) SwordfshIs armour and v ial armour are really, really bad,and is no nearly cheap enough o reec ha.Ta said, i you can manage o use i as an ASWplaorm, is no bad. Keep i away rom enemyghers and ship AA, hough, i you don wan olose i.

    4) DevasaorTis is jus a bad aircra, which o course iscompleely realisic. Is orpedo dice are lousy, is

    ASW is miserable, and i dies easily. Te ac ha ican make isel a arge is a litle helpul, bu since ican draw ship AA re, even ha abiliy leaves a lo

    o be desired. Leave his one a home.

    Here are he Axis orpedo bombers, one o he ewplaces where he Axis can be said o have roughpariy wih he Allies in aircra.

    1) JillIs no he BF Avenger, bu is an excellen

    aircra in is own way, and ar superior o ispredecessor he Kae. 3 ASW and 3 orpedoesare boh nice, and is vial armour o 8 is a bigimprovemen over he Kae. However, he realgem here is he long-disance orpedo. Paricularly

    when combined wih a Shadowing Emily andScou Planes rom Chikuma, his is a poen

    weapon. Kamikaze Atack is an ineresing las-dich sor o abiliy, bu I have rarely ever seen iused.

    2) KaeTis would be a very good aircra is no or helow vial armour. In one game I played, I had hreeo hese sho down in one secor on one urn!Sill, he hree orpedoes are very respecable, eveni he ASW leaves somehing o be desired. Temajor problem he Kae has is being over-cosed.

    Why would you wan a Kae or 13 when youcould have a Jill or Avenger or 14?

    3) Fi-167Tis is sor o he Axis Swordsh, alhough alitle harder o abor hanks o i s armour valueo 4. Sill, heres no a lo o like here. Te hree

    orpedoes are nice i you ever ge o use hem, bui can even adop he Swordsh acic o beingmosly an ASW plaorm because is ASW value islow. I suppose i youre desperae or a Euro-Axisorpedo bomber you could play i, bu is a lasresor sor o piece.

    Dive BombersMoving on, we come nex o he dive bombers.

    While hese don work very well againsbatleships and subs, hey are deadly againsoher ships, and hey are clearly your bes beor aking ou opposing carriers (especially ones

    wih orpedo Deense). Tey end o be a lo lessrusraing o use han he hi-or-miss orpedo

    bombers, and hey are amongs my avorie unis.

    1) HelldiverYes, is relaively easy o abor. Bu i makes upor ha in pure power. Is base bomb value is

    beter han he Daunless, and i can improveupon ha wih Finish Him O. Is armour o 5 isrespecable, and i goes up o 6 when atacked bya gher (ye anoher reason why ship-based AAis superior). Vial armour 9 is key, given ha hisand Avenger are he only carrier-based bombersha have i. Tis is he only dive bomber hahas a subsanial chance o damage a batleship,given ha i is able o hrow een bomb dice aa damaged uni i i has Exper Bomber 2 romEnerprise and Shadowing rom Caalina. All in

    all, an excellen uni.

    2) DaunlessI he Helldiver is he number 1 dive bomber,han he Daunless migh very well be 1A. Is a

    very small downgrade rom he Helldiver o heDaunless. Te Daunless doesn have he gaudysas o he Helldiver, and is easier o knockou o he sky, bu i has one big advanage. TeDaunless can sill atack aer being abored

    by ship-based AA. Since ship-based AA ishe primary hrea o dive bombers, his is aremendously useul abiliy. I almos orces youropponen o atack i wih ghers o ry o keepPress Te Atack rom being usable. An escoredDaunless is a hard uni o sop.

    3) BarracudaTis aircra is versaile, and ha would score imajor poins i i wasn ragile. Like he Kae,

    his is an easy aircra o shoo down wih is weakvial armour. On he plus side, i does have anabiliy similar o he Daunlesss Press he Atack.Deermined Atack makes i hard o abor heBarracuda. Ironically, he bes hing ha canhappen o he Barracuda on mos urns is or i o

    be abored. Once i is, i can be red a anymore,and i can sill make is atack i i succeeds on isDeermined Atack roll. Overall, he Barracuda isa good uni ha could be a grea uni i i was a biougher.

    4) VindicaorOne o he bes hings abou dive bombers is hahey are hard o shoo down. Beore Condiion:Zebra, here had never been a dive bomber wiha vial armour less han 7. Unorunaely or he

    Allies, ha changed in CZ. Te Vindicaor is arespecable dive bomber i i survives, bu hashe dilemma. Wih a vial armour o 6, i is nolikely o survive many atacks. Like he Barracuda,he bes hing or he Vindicaor migh be o geabored so i can u se Press he Atack and avoiduure AA re. Bomb 8 is a respecable value, and a7 poin dive bomber isn bad. Sill, Id raher haveone Helldiver or 14 poins ha is going o survive

    han have wo Vindicaors or 14 poins ha arengoing o survive.

    We coninue wih he Axis dive bombers.

    1) JudyNo oher Axis dive bomber is close. Is he onlyone wih vial armour 8, making i he only one

    wih decen odds o survival. I also eaures Presshe Atack, and is bomb value o 9 is almos equalo he Daunless. Quie honesly, I hink he IJNplayer is always wise o orsake he Val and spendhe exra 2 poins or he Judy.

    2) PicchiaelliI hough long and hard abou he choice beweenhis and he Suka. Ulimaely I decided ha Presshe Atack is imporan enough o jusiy he exrapoin o cos. Tis is especially rue because helow armour o he Picchiaelli means i will geabored a lo. Vial armour 7 is lower han I likeo see i, bu is benecial ha he Aquila gavehe Picchiaelli a chance o become carrier-based.Coming o a carrier, is bomb value o 9 and vialarmour o 7 make i beter han even he Val, andor wo poins less.

    3) SukaWhen his uni was rs released, I was veryimpressed by i. Aer all, why would I pay 13poins or a Daunless or 10 poins or a Val whenI go have a Suka or a mere 7? oday, I sill viewhe Suka as very cheap or wha i can do, bu Iam more cognizan o is limiaions. I is easy oabor, and easy o desroy. Ta makes i a bomberha is bes used in large numbers. Tankully,has easy o do wih is cheap cos, alhough heland base limiaions can someimes ge in he way.O course, he ac ha i can now base on he GrazZeppelin AND he Aquila makes i even beter.Overall, is a bomber ha gives you a lo o bangor he buck.

    4) KamikazeOkay, echnically is no a dive bomber, bu iscerainly no a gher, so his seemed like he mosappropriae place o pu i. I is good a wha idoes, which is helping o ll up your air swarms.

    Even beter, i sars becoming available jus asyour oher bombers are geting blown ou o hesky, so i has good replacemen value. I won gehrough very oen, bu when i does i has a airlygood chance o doing damage o anyhing oherhan a batleship. One disadvanage is ha isechnical saus as a gher means i can benerom Escor. For hree poins, he Kamikaze is alo more valuable han he our poin Subchaser.

    As long as you remember ha is jus a ller uni,i will serve you well.

    5) ValTe Val is no paricularly eecive wih a bomb

    value o 8, is easy o shoo down wih a vialarmour o 7, and i doesn have any uniqueabiliies like he Jills range-1 orpedo o make i

    worh using. I does have a couple benes, suchas he abiliy o be carrier-based and Press Te

    Atack, bu as a whole is oo expensive or whayoure geting. Use a Judy insead.

    Patrol BombersFinally, we come o parol bombers. Tese are hehardes o rank, because dieren parol bombershave dieren uncions. Te Emily is a uiliyplane, while he Airone is an ASW plane, and heSparviero is a comba plane. Here, he sandardI applied was how oen a paricu lar plane shouldmake your ee. Tis led o some ineresingresuls, as you will see below.

    2) SunderlandLike he Caalina, he Sunderland has he abiliyo come ou every urn hanks o Loier. Is real

    value, hough, is dieren han he Caalina. W hilehe Caalina is valuable or is abiliy o Shadow,he Sunderland is valuable or is Mines abiliy.Some people advocae mining objecive secors,

    bu I disagree wih his. You wan o ge o heobjecives, oo, so why pu your own ships arisk? Insead, I preer o drop mines near islands,o creae a wall ha ships have o diver around.Tis can delay your opponen and allow you oclaim he objecives rs. In addiion o Mines,he Sunderland uncions as a halway decen dive

    3) MichellTis is a very powerul atack plane. I has a mini-Kondor atack wih is Heavy Sraer abiliy, andSkip Bomb makes i a hrea o every ype osurace ship, including batleships. Vial armour8 makes i surv ivable, and Deensive Armamenmakes i hard or ghers o abor i. I have onlywo complains. Firs, he ac ha i can onlycome ou every oher urn makes i o limieduiliy. Second, he low armour raing makesi airly easy or ships o abor i. I i can gehrough, he B-25 likely o do some damage. Terick is geting i hrough.

    4) LiberaorTe Liberaor is subsanially beter han heHaliax. Yes, is bomb value is lower and is vial

    armour is lower. Bu heres he key dierence heLiberaor acually has an eecive atack. No, isno likely o ever do much as a bomber, bu as an

    ASW plaorm is very solid. For only 6 poins,you can ge a relaively survivable ASW plaorm.And no only ha, bu also once per game i cancome ou wo sraigh urns hanks o ExcellenEndurance

    5) HaliaxTe problem wih he Haliax is ha i doesn haveany eecive atacks. Is bomb value is subsanial,

    bu he eeciveness is largely negaed by Hi-LevelBomber. Is ASW value o 2 isn high enough o

    really pose a hrea o mos submarines. Tus, heonly hing i really has going or i is is oughness,bu has no worh very much i i doesn havean eecive way o atack. I have also ound ASWPinpoiner o be a generally useless abiliy. I i

    worked wihin range-2 like normal Pinpoiner, imigh have been good, bu he curren incarnaion

    jus isn powerul enough o make he Haliax alegiimae uni.

    Now, we nish up wih he Axis parol bombers.

    1) KondorTeres a reason his hing sells or $15 and upon Ebay. I has remendous synergy wih heres o he German ee, especially submarines.

    A he beginning o he game, i can lay waseo opposing desroyers wih Ani-Ship Missile,and hen laer on i can enhance your submarineatacks wih Pinpoiner. Yes, is ragile. Bu he

    key is o remember ha i shouldn be in harmsway. I youre puting your Kondors over opposingships, youre using hem wrong. You shouldplace all your oher aircra rs, and hen place

    your Kondors in he places where enemy ghersaren. Tis is one o he ew Se I pieces ha is sillcompeiive wih laer se pieces.

    2) EmilyIs like a Caalina ha can ake a hi! Yes, is hreepoins more, bu hose hree poins buy you woenire exra poins o vial armour, plus Deensive

    Armamen. I i has an escor, he Emily canduke i ou wih an enemy gher and survive.Even wihou an escor, i has a decen chance osurvival. Unlike he Caalina and Kondor, whichshould never subjec hemselves o opposing AA,he Emily can ac as an exra atack plane i hingsgo bad. And i i does, i can use is Shadowingabiliy o enhance is own atacks. I also makesa respecable ASW plaorm in a pinch, which is

    valuable because he Axis doesn have many good

    aerial ASW opions. Trow in he ac ha i cancome ou every urn, and his is an aircra o bereckoned wih.

    3) SparvieroWihou a Shadowing bonus or any oher ypeo bonus, his aircra can someimes hrow sixorpedoes a urn: our a he rs arge, andwo a he second. Tas impressive repower.eam i up wih he Japanese or Shadowing andScou Planes and you could have a sick amouno orpedoes being hrown in non-hisoricalgames. Wih vial armour 8, is go respecablesaying power as well. I can imagine a reason you

    wouldn bring his in an Ialian aerial batle.

    4) G4M1 BetyTe idea o aircra is o be able o do as muchdamage as possible o he opposing ee. o beable o do ha, you need o be able o hi hemas oen as possible. Te G4M1s ExcellenEndurance abiliy les you hi your opponen moreoen han is cousin he G4M. Because i canpu more orpedoes on arge over he course o anormal game, is a beter aircra, and deserves henumber 4 spo.

    5) G4M BetyIs no a abulous aircra, bu is serviceable orsix poins. I can give you a couple orpedoes, a

    weak ASW atack, or a small bomb atack once agame. Is no likely o survive much AA, bu haswhy you deploy i in swarms. Is good poin lleri nohing else.

    6) Ju-88I may have his uni ranked oo low. I has veryineresing abiliies, bu Ive never been able o nda good use or hem. I srikes me as a uni hacould poenially have devasaing combos wihoher aircra, bu Ive never been able o nd hosecombos. Is a respecable uni, bu I wan beterhan respecable or a uni ha can only atackevery oher urn and coss nine poins. Le meknow i you have ound a good use or his one.

    7) Z.506 AironeI can nd anyhing good abou his plane. Igives he Ialians aerial ASW, bu is lousy aerial

    ASW. Is easy o kill, and i doesn have muchoensive capabiliy. Even a jus six poins, is a

    bad invesmen.
