Fall Communion
It will soon be Operation Christmas Child time again! As we start preparing to pack our shoeboxes here are some thoughts to keep in mind.
A FACT: Children are very open to hear, understand, and accept the truth of the Gos-
pel, especially before fifteen years of age. Each box carries the potential to touch not only the child who receives it, but also their immediate family, extended family, and the community in which they live. This ripple effect opens doors of opportunity for many to hear and receive the life-changing message of God’s love. By the end of 2017 Opera-tion Christmas Child hopes to have enrolled close to 2 million more children in The
Greatest Journey in more than 80 countries.
PRAY: That the shoebox gifts will be effective tools for reaching children, families, communities, and nations with the Good News of Jesus.
¨ That God will use the two Gospel booklets, offered during shoebox gift distributions. “The Greatest Gift of All” contains illustrations and Biblical stories written in a sim-
plified, engaging style that present the plan of salvation on a child’s level. It is given to each child when they receive their shoebox gift.. The follow-up discipleship pro-gram, “The Greatest Journey,” produced by Samaritan’s Purse, is a 12-lesson Bible
study course that explores who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. Gradu-ates receive a personalized certificate and a special New Testament. As they grow in their new found faith, children pray for and introduce family members and friends to Jesus, and many lives are transformed.
¨ That God will enable us to pack more boxes than we did last year as individuals, fami-lies, and as a church. Last year we packed 345 boxes. Would it be possible to do 375 this year?
¨ We will once again be providing shoe boxes for you to fill beginning on our “Kick off Sunday” October 8. The final collection day will be November 12. Your help at our Relay Center will be needed once again the week of November 13-20. The sign-up sheet will be on the Information table starting on October 8.
If you have any questions, contact Rex & Bobbi McConahay at church, or call them at home at 234-429-0044.
Operation Christmas Child
Kick-Off Sunday,Oct.8!
This next month, you will see many new books in the library. Come in and look around! I have ordered 6 new series of 3 books each, and a few stand-alone for your reading. The first series is “Moonlighters Series” by Terri Blackstock. It is a mystery series that is to keep you on edge every page. The first book is entitled, “Truth Stained Lies.” The second book is enti-tled, “Distortion,” and the Third book is entitled, “Twisted Innocence.” Can three sisters - a blogger, a cab driver, and a stay at home Mom - with only a little courage and no experience, moonlight as private investigators to solve some mysteries/murders that they have become involved in?
Find these books on the library table. Enjoy! Your Librarian, Rachel Krabill
