The AreaFoscote Manor is surrounded by beautiful open countryside which belies its accessibility to London and the motorway network. The county and University town of Buckingham lies within 2½ miles providing a good range of facilities for every day needs. Foscote ManorFoscote Manor is a house of considerable historical importance. There is mention of the Manor at Foscote (or Foscott as it was then) in the Doomsday Survey when it was included in lands belonging to the Bishop of Baieux. Foscote as it stands today dates from the mid 17th century with some late 19th century additions.

The construction is largely of mellow dressed stone under a tile roof with stone mullion leaded windows in classical Jacobean style. It has a particularly fine staircase dating from circa 1640 and the house has some fine panelling, ornate plaster work and fine fireplaces marking its architectural and historical pedigree. In recent years the house has been completely restored and refurbished to provide a house suitable for comfortable family living as well as more formal entertaining.

Gardens & GroundsTo the east of the house is a substantial stone and brick walled garden at the centre of which is a heated swimming pool. One end of the walled garden is dominated by a high dovecote/tower that overlooks the gardens.

A yew walk connects formal and informal gardens and leads up to a hard tennis court. The eastern side of the gardens are dominated by an ornamental lake forming the upper section of a water system which flows to a lower pond, under the driveway. The lower pond forms the southern side of the gardens and is framed by mature trees.

There is a classical rose garden, knot garden with topiaried hedges enclosed by ornate fencing supporting a wide variety of climbing plants. From the western side of the house the terrace leads down to a raised lawn parterre with classical box hedging and two ornate fountains connected by a stone channel. This large formal lawn slopes down to a lower area and onto a ha-ha. Beyond which is a wide area of park that runs gently down to a 2 acre lake and bluebell wood.

Nearby is a courtyard, substantial machinery store, greenhouses and vegetable gardens enclosed by yew hedges.

The LandBeyond the gardens, mainly to the east, south and west, are a number of fields, some enclosed by parkland railing and others by traditional stock fencing, currently grazed by sheep on a licence.

Stable yardImmediately to the north west of the house comprising 3 traditional loose boxes, one currently housing the boiler system, another currently as a tool shed. There are also 4 garages with up and over doors. An archway under the dovecote leads onto the kitchen garden and land beyond. From junction 14 of the M1 take the A509 through the outskirts of Milton Keynes over a series of roundabouts. After about 4 miles turn right onto the A5 heading north and after 3½ miles turn left onto the A422 signed to Buckingham. After 5 miles turn right signed to Akeley and Leckhampstead (½ mile). Before entering the village turn left signed Maids’ Moreton. After 1 mile turn left signed to Foscote into a narrow lane. Foscote Manor can be seen on the left hand side after ¼ mile, shortly after a cattle grid.

From junction 10 of the M40 take the A43 north signed to Brackley. After about 3 miles turn right onto the A421 signed to Milton Keynes. Follow the A421 as far as the outskirts of Buckingham and at the roundabout take the A413 signed to Towcester. Proceed over the next roundabout and at the following roundabout take the third exit onto the A422 signed to Milton Keynes.

Continue for about 2 miles, ignoring the first sign to Foscote and turn left signed to Akeley and Leckhampstead (½ mile) and follow the directions as above.
