What are fossil Fuels?

Fossil fuels are fuels formed by natural resources such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms.

Over 85% of are energy is relied on the combustion of fossil fuels underneath the ground.

Fossil fuels are burred to release a chemical energy.

What are the type of different fossil fuels?

Although there are many different types of fossil fuels, the main three are coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Because all fossil fuel uses produce energy in the same way.

How is coal formed?

Coal begins as peat, a mass of dead and decomposing plant matter. Coal is formed in a similar to the other fossil fuels But, it goes through a different process, coalification. Coal is made of decomposed plant matter in conditions of high temperature and pressure, though it takes a relatively shorter amount of time to form.

Coal begins as peat, a mass of dead and decomposing plant matter. Peat itself has been used as fuel in the past, as an alternative to wood. The peat becomes lignite, a brownish rock that contains similar plant matter and has a relatively low heating. Lignite is the halfway point from peat to coal. A shade of dull black, showing very little plant matter, this type of coal has a less than ideal heating value. Bituminous coal is jet black, very dense, and brittle.

How is coal used as a fossil fuel?

Coal is used as a fossil fuel by how it gives off energy and produces energy which makes it used as a fossil fuel. An example would be a grill with coal to cook your hot dogs during the summer.

How is oil formed?

They are buried under sediment and other rocks . The rock squeezed the diatoms and the energy in their bodies could not escape. The carbon eventually turned into oil under great pressure and heat. As the earth changed and moved and folded, pockets where oil and natural gas can be found were formed .

How is oil used as a fossil fuel?

Oil is considered a fossil fuel because it transfers into gas giving are cars energy to get from point A to point B.

How is natural gas Formed?

The main ingredient in natural gas is methane, a gas composed of one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms. Millions of years ago, the remains of plants and animals decayed and built up in thick layers . This decayed matter from plants and animals is called organic material it was once alive. Over time, the sand and silt changed to rock, covered the organic material, and trapped it beneath the rock.  Pressure and heat changed some of this organic material into coal, some into oil, and some into natural.

How is natural gas used as a fossil fuel?

Natural gas is like a fossil fuel because it gives things the gas to make this give off heat like the stove and furnaces in are houses to keep us warm during the winter.

What are refineries and why are they important to the production of fossil fuels?

Refineries are places were they burn the fossil fuels into different thing like gas, tar, and natural gas. It is important because they are making fossil fuels use able for us people.

Exxon Valdez oil spill The Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred in

Prince William Sound, Alaska, on March 24, 1989, when the Exxon Valdez, an oil tanker bound for Long Beach, California, hit Prince William Sound's Bligh Reef and spilled an estimated minimum 10.8 million US gallons of crude oil. To clean it up they used a solvent mixture to clean it . It basically destroyed they who eco system.

Deep water horizon oil catastrophe

A pipe busted under water and the turn off switch does not work because of a mechanical failer and many barrels of oil is put into the gulf every minute. They tried putting a box over it to cover the leak and make it go into a big box but it failed. It made a huge impact for the fisher men along the coast of the golf because all the fish are gone.
