Investigate & Plan
Part I
• In your sketchbook, find and draw 10 examples of vase forms.• (a form is a 3 dimensional shape or the configuration of something)
Part II
• In your sketchbook, brainstorm a list of 20 different (or as many as you can think of) found objects. • A found object is a natural or manufactured object or an artifact not
originally intended as art, found and considered to have aesthetic value.
Part III
• In your sketchbook, draw up 3-4 thumbnail sketches of ideas for your own design and form.
• Then, using card stock, cut out templates of actual size for your chosen design and construct a “mock-up” of your form.

The Project
Form
• Your challenge is to create a slab built geometric vase or form and juxtapose it with a free form or organic found object.
geometric + free form = contrast
Exterior
• For decorative exterior application, choose one element of art and one principle of design as a basis for your creativity and design.
ex. (e)Line + (p)Repetition = Design
Theme
• If you struggle with ideas, click on the button that says “Theme Generator” for a theme for your work. Challenge yourself to go with the first theme that pops up.
