Wind Expert Training

ObjectivesThe training covers the different stages of a wind farm development process: from met mast siting, wind data analysis, wind resource grid generation, micrositing, site suitability analysis to short term wind power forecasting and wind farm management issues.

Upon completion, participants would acquire a working foundation in wind energy assessment and wind farm development. They would also be certified on the wind energy assessment process as well as the use of some of the simulation tools.

An official Meteodyn certificate will be awarded to each participant successfully completing all the training sessions.

Target Audience• Engineers interested in preparing for a renewable energy career in the ASEAN region, including China and India• Electrical Energy professionals preparing to couple wind energy to current power generation• Industry professionals interested in wind energy generation and capture• Renewable energy professionals interested to learn about wind energy development• Anyone interested in obtaining a foundation knowledge in renewable wind energy

Date : 8 & 9 November 2011

Wind energy has been the fastest growing renewable energy source globally at an accelerating pace, especially in the Asia regional market. Newly-installed wind capacity added more than 19GW in 2010, mostly in China. In this region, many countries including Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore have redoubled their efforts to embrace renewable energies to counter the growth hampering effects of ever-increasing fossil oil prices. However, many of the opportunities to harness and capture wind energy have been hampered by the lack of reliable and accurate wind resource assessments in all the South East Asia countries. Such information is critical to enable the community including the authorities and national grid, Independent Power Producer (IPP), renewable energy project developers and owners to mine and realise the tremendous potential investment and development of wind energy opportunities.

In response to this need for wind energy assessment, this training provides the core state-of-the-art theoretical and practical methods to discover, conceptualise, visualise and realise wind energy opportunities including wind resource assessment in complex terrains, apply analytic for optimal energy output, and also embed sustainability and profitability values for affordable energy.
