MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS
In an effort to provide more clarity to you about membership numbers, we have created a Full Time Equivalent (FTE) equation to better represent where our membership stands. The below FTE number is found by dividing our current dues revenue by $475. Please note that this FTE should not be compared to 2014 because of the revised dues structure. However the FTE should be used to track our progress moving forward in 2015. While we have more active members in actuality than the number below, we feel this provides a clearer at-a-glance representation.
Total # of Members: 455
FTE # of Members: 247
Equity # of Members: 271
It’s hard to believe it’s the beginning of May. Our weather this year has been very golf friendly and with the aeration and sanding completed, the course is looking and playing as if it were summer. There is lots of activity at the Club and with 68 of the 107 Progressive Members converting to a Proprietary Membership, our financial performance has been better than budget. Total revenue for the Club is $100K better than budget, $63K from the restaurant and lounge, and $27K from the golf shop. Expressed on a percentage basis, revenue
is up 15% with expenses rising 7%, resulting is a 1st quarter performance of +60K better than budget. Greg Manley and staff have tightened the screws on financial objectives and paved the way for a warm welcome to all our new members. I encourage all of us to continue to reach out to someone you don’t know, you never know what you may have in common besides the great game of golf we all enjoy.
We are now 30 days into our in-season events and activities. Be sure to check the weekly E-blast, the Approach, and the calendar on our website to plan your time at the Club. Of special note is the WA Open and Pro-Am that will be held for the 3rd straight year here at MVCC. The event runs from Friday 5/15 through Wed 5/20. This year begins a new charitable relationship with The Folds of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to the children of our military heroes, “honoring their sacrifice, educating their legacy”. For the first time ever, everyone attending or not, will have the opportunity to bid on auction items via a website. Tournament Director Chris Manley will be communicating specific information on how you can participate in the next week. Come out to the club any of the 3 days (Mon-Wed) to watch the best golfers in the PNW compete.
The first in a series of videos have been posted to our website at the bottom of the Home Page. This Etiquette video is a good reminder for all members and a great way to introduce our new members to how we do things here at MVCC. If you have any questions or need clarification, just check with Greg or Wes.
Finally, be sure to mark your calendar for our next Town Hall meeting on Thursday, 5/28, beginning at 7:00 PM. Topics will include a financial update, capital expenditures, land development, and membership update.
See you at the Club

Club Information
Golf
With the blue skies and repaired greens, May is looking to be a busy month in the Women’s Division. Our news email, The Putt,
will be coming your way on the 1st, 15th and 29th with additional information and reminders so that you can be sure and know what is happening. Here are a few highlights:
Twilight Season officially kicks off on May 5th with a Cinco de Mayo Mexican Buffet. The nine hole competition will be O.N.E.S.-
only those scores from holes starting with the letters O,N,E or S are recorded and half your handicap subtracted to determine your final score. Please refer to page 60 in the Women’s Division Yearbook for the All Day Nine Hole Competition guidelines.
Be sure to sign up on ForeTees or call the golf shop to reserve your tee time.
The annual Memorial Tournament, honoring the memory of members who have passed, will be held on May 12th with an 8:30
shotgun followed by a luncheon and general meeting. The format will be a modified Stableford where points will be awarded for each hole. In addition to the payouts by division, the Pat Leber Memorial trophy will be awarded to the woman with the highest total
number of points. Sign up is on ForeTees or by calling the golf shop. Please note, you can also sign up now on ForeTees to play in the Best Ball Tournament on June 23rd and 30th and/or the Triad Tournament on August 4th, 6th and 11th
The only Sweeps event this month will be on May 19th at Bear Creek.
Be watching your email for information about how to sign up to play in this event. Questions can be directed to Sharon Falkner, [email protected] . Please note that because of the Washington State Open at MVCC on May 19, the course will be closed for play and there will be no daytime or twilight golfing.
Our MV Golf Team Enjoys Solid Win against Fairwood at the
Season’s First Match
10 members of our Women’s Team played Thursday at Rainier against Fairwood winning 9 of the 12 possible Scratch points and Subs
winning half of their points. The competitors were tough, taking most of the matches the entire 18 holes but in the end the victory was
ours!
Our next match is played on April 30th at Overlake against
one of the two best teams in the Major League. The next match will be at Sahalee on May 7th when our women will take on the Sand
Point team. The second match of the month will be on May 28th at Sand Point when the MVCC team will take on Overlake.
The first Team is a round robin league competition with other
clubs in the Seattle Women’s Golf Association. Members are chosen at the discretion of the team captain, Dodie Fitzsimmons, from the women’s division’s lowest handicappers. If you would like to learn
more, please contact Dodie at [email protected].
New Team Members this year include Lorna Joers, Kathy Solberg, Cheryl Havener, Lana Phillips and Mindy Spencer.
