1. IntroductionThe Master of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation is a multidisciplinary programme. The programme exposes students to various disciplines that are appropriate to development planning giving special emphasis to the monitoring and evaluation of development projects and programmes.

The course is designed to train managers of development projects and programmes for public and private sector as well as understanding research and teaching in institutions of higher learning

2. ObjectivesThe programme is designed to:

1. Train students on the principles and concepts of monitoring and evaluation2. Produce students with a firm theoretical background in planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes at different operational and spatial levels.3. Train students to undertake research and postgraduate studies.

3. Admission RequirementsApplicants should be at least;a. Holders of at least an upper second class honours degree of Maseno University or any other recognized university b. Holders of Lower second class honors degree of Maseno University or any other recognized university and post graduate diploma of Maseno University or any other recognized university or evidence of extensive research experience as demonstrated by publications in peer reviewed journals.c. Applicants must meet the specific requirements of Masters programme as approved by the Maseno University senate.

4. Duration of the ProgrammeThe duration of the programme shall be two academic years.

5. ExaminationThe general University examination rules and regulations shall apply

6. Programme StructureThe programme shall consist of a) coursework, examination and thesis orb) coursework, examination and project

The programme shall consist of units, which shall be distributed over four semesters as follows:
