Introduction to this brochure
The B&Bs are arranged numerically in an anti-clockwise progression around Scotland. Each B&B has a number corresponding to its number on the map.
MapThe map is in the centre of this booklet. Different areas are colour coded by region.
B&Bs InformationEntries are numbered and include the name of the B&B, address, telephone, mobile where applicable, website, e-mail address and price. Room rates are per person, per night based on two people sharing, unless otherwise stated. Please check when booking, the exact rate, as prices may vary according to type of room, time of year and length of stay.
VisitScotland Quality AssuranceB&Bs participating in the QA scheme are visited bi-annually, usually on an incognito overnight stay, by the very demanding Quality Assurance Advisors. During their visit they sample the warmth of welcome, the food and the accommodation and the general efficiency with which their requirements are met. The Advisors award marks in over 40 different categories and only ifan establishment achieves between 70 - 84% are they awarded the 4 Star grading: 5 Star Grading is only given to truly exceptional establishments who achieve over 85% in their assessment. To be a member of Scotland’s Best B&Bs an establishment must achieve marks of 78% or over. Two new awards were introduced over the last few years, a “Gold Award” for establishments who provide exceptionally high standards of hospitality and a “Taste Our Best Award” which recognises and celebrates businesses providing locally sourced quality food and drink.
Staying at a B&BThe B&Bs throughout this brochure are all private homes and your hosts are likely to welcome you personally. Check arrival and departure times at your chosen B&B, and while flights get delayed and traffic jams happen, do call to advise a late arrival. Access to your B&B may be restricted during the day, so check with your B&B if you have any special requirements. It is always appreciated if you advise in advance of your stay any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
Cancellation or Changing of a BookingMaking a booking, verbally, by e-mail, in writing or online is a legal contract, which both parties must honour. Different establishments may have different cancellation policies, so check when booking. We advise that you take out holiday cancellation insurance.
