Top Four Ways Your Staff Is Costing You Money

REASON 1: HIRING TOO QUICKLY

You may stop by the conference room for a quick hello with each candidate, and let your office manager handle the interview itself.

This is a problem.

LACK OF HIRING PROCESS

The hiring process should be a collaborative effort between you, your office manager and other senior members of your staff.

You don't want to set your employee up for failure. This costs you time and money.

REASON 2: STAFF NOT BEEN TRAINED PROPERLY

Some practices consider in-depth training an unnecessary expense and expect new employees to learn on the job from supervisors and other employees.

EFFICIENT STAFF LEADS TO MISTAKES

Unskilled employees could spend considerable time seeking help to perform their jobs or they could perform tasks to their understanding, to the detriment of the work process.

STAFF SHOULD WORK SMARTER AND NOT HARDER

A practice with a reputation for high employee turnover is also unattractive to potential job candidates.

Highly trained staff saves practices from employee mistakes that translate into really financial losses.

REASON 3: STAFF NOT INVESTED IN YOUR PRACTICE

Unhappiness and attitude translates through the phone, and discerning patients may not convert, costing the practice new patient conversions that you will never know about.

AS WITH ANY RELATIONSHIP, COMMUNICATION IS ESSENTIAL

Regular feedback sessions with employees and you, the Doctor, are also essential.

Do what you can to ensure that your office is a pleasant place to work.

SMALL THINGS CAN MAKE A HUGE IMPACT ON EMPLOYEE MORALE

Spruce up the decor, play music that is not too gloomy or cheesy.

Do what you can to make your staff look forward to coming to work every day.

REASON 4: YOUR TEAM IS BEING POORLY LED

This may be poor leadership from you, the doctor. You are the ultimate leader in your practice. If you aren't leading your staff in the right direction, or your leadership is lacking in some area, you are going to have issues.

CONSISTENT LEADERSHIP

There must be one clearly defined leader.

By default, that is you, the Doctor. You need to take charge and assert yourself as a leader.

Don't leave this for your office manager or other team members.

THANK YOU

These are the four ways that your staff may be causing your practice to lose money and be less effective.

Also, if you aren't sure where to start, or if you are even have a staffing issue, we can help.
