COMMUNAL RESPONSIBILITY The people of God forgot the covenant and flouted God’s laws. They did not listen to the prophets among them, who spoke for God in warning them. Prophets are sent from God to remind us why we are here, but they are often, even in our own time, mocked, disregarded, and mistreated ra-ther than thanked and listened to. The book of Chronicles tells the results of these sins: the destruction of the temple and all of Jerusalem, murder, mayhem, and finally exile to a foreign land. Why are these stories in the Bible? Just to inform us of what happened to our ancient forebears? What good would that be unless there were a message and a warning for us as well? Are we people who follow the teachings of God, who obey the words of Christ in the second covenant in his blood? Or do we continue to wreak works of darkness and violence? We are reminded by these readings that we will be judged as a people, not just as individuals. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

5 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT
ST. PATRICK 1. He wasn’t Irish: Patrick was captured by Irish pirates and brought
to Ireland from England in the early 5th Century. 2. He experienced a mystical vision of the Irish asking him to teach
them about Christ. 3. Having become a Bishop, he was sent back to Ireland. He preached
first to the members of the royal family, and soon his audience grew. He used the druid rituals as evangelizing tools.
4. He used a shamrock to explain the Trinity because the Irish had a love for nature.
5. He instituted what was known as the Croagh Patrick Hike, where he prayed that Ireland would always keep her Christian Faith. To this day, young and old hikers follow that famous route in pilgrimage.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BREAKFAST No need to cook on Sunday, March 18th. After 8 am and 10 am Masses the Knights will be serving breakfast in the Church Base-ment! Donations will go towards Crossroads Pregnancy Center!
FOOD BANK The Food Bank of Ephrata needs small plastic jars of peanut butter
for the month of March. Donations can be dropped off in the Church Vestibule. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
A LETTER FROM THE RELIGIOUS ED DIRECTOR:
Greetings! Your child’s first communion is quickly approaching! We unfortu-nately have had to reschedule our First Communion Retreat. Father Mauricio is being sent to Rome by Bishop Tyson for a workshop and is unavailable during the scheduled date. At this time we have rescheduled the retreat for Friday, April 27th from 6-8 pm. This retreat is mandatory. Your child will also have the opportunity to do their First Reconciliation at this time. It has been a pleasure watching your child’s faith grow. We sincerely apologize for any incon-venience this has caused in your planning efforts. Please remember your child’s Baptismal Certificate needs to be turned into Christine at the church office on or before March 15th.If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 509-989-
3068.
With All His Love,

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

5 COSAS QUE PROBABLEMENTE NO SABÍAS SOBRE
SAN. PATRICIO 1.
