Our local council of the Knights of Columbus, are raising
funds to purchase an ultrasound machine, for the new
mobile unit that Three Rivers Pregnancy Helpline is
purchasing. The new ultrasound will cost $43,000, and
with the support of the Knights of Columbus Supreme
Council matching funds, our local needs to raise only half
of the total cost. We have a donor who will match 100%
or $ for $ up to $8,000.00 for individual dona7ons made to
complete this fundraising. Presently we are at the halfway
point to that goal. Thank you for considering suppor7ng
this worthwhile endeavor that is saving babies lives.

CHAPTER I. What true Devotion is.
“Be What You are and Be at its Best.” S.F.S Well-meaning people, who have not as yet attained a true devo-tion, attempt a manner of flight by means of their good actions, but rarely, slowly and heavily; while really devout men rise up to God frequently, and with a swift and soaring wing. In short, devotion is simply a spiritual activity and liveliness by means of which Divine Love works in us and causes us to work briskly and lovingly; and just as charity leads us to a general prac-tice of all God’s Commandments, so devotion leads us to practice them readily and diligently. And therefore, we cannot call him who neglects to observe all God’s Commandments either good or devout, because in order to be good, a man must be filled with love, and to be devout, he must further be very ready and apt to perform the deeds of love. And forasmuch as devotion consists in a high degree of real love, it not only makes us ready, active, and diligent in following all God’s Commands, but it also excites us to be ready and loving in performing as many good works as possible, even such as are not enjoined upon us, but are only matters of counsel or inspiration. Even as a man just recovering from illness, walks only so far as he is obliged to go, with a slow and weary step, so the converted sinner journeys along as far as God commands him but slowly and wearily, until he attains a true spirit of devotion, and then, like a sound man, he not only gets along, but he runs and leaps in the way of God’s Commands, and hastens gladly along the paths of heavenly counsels and inspirations. The difference between love and devotion is just that which exists between fire and flame;—love being a spiritual fire which be-comes devotion when it is fanned into a flame;—and what devo-tion adds to the fire of love is that flame which makes it eager, energetic and diligent, not merely in obeying God’s Command-ments, but in fulfilling His Divine Counsels and inspirations. Next week our Diocese will hold the Catholic
Campaign for Human Development Collection.
More than 40 million people in the US live in
poverty today. This collection supports programs
that empower people to identify and address
obstacles as they work to make permanent and
positive changes for their communities. Learn

Development at https://www.usccb.org/

AOer a brief delay, the Bishop’s Annual Appeal 2020, has
officially begun. Given our current circumstances, Bishop Bradley
has approved a significant change for this year’s appeal; aOer
each Parish has reached 50 percent of its goal, all addi7onal giOs
will be returned to the Parish. The hope with this change is to
allow Parishes to remain strong centers of worship, faith
forma7on and service to their communi7es, because, as we
know, Strong Parishes equal a Strong Diocese. This year’s theme
of “Living the Mission of the Eucharist”, is powerfully expressed
in the three diocesan priori7es: 1) Fostering Priestly Voca7ons;
2) Accompanying Families toward Holiness; and 3) Ac7va7ng
Missionary Disciples. Learn how your dona7on to the Bishop’s
Annual Appeal supports these priori7es at diokzoo.org/bishops-
annual-appeal. Thank you in advance for your prayerful
considera7on and financial support.
