CategoriesOur Categories

At Frames we provide solutions in three categories: oil and water; gas;

and safeguarding and flow control. We can also formulate integrated

solutions that bring together products from more than one category.

For more information, contact a local sales engineer or download a

specialized brochure at frames-group.com.

We design and supply the entire separation process, from high-pres-

sure separation to treatment of produced water. Our solutions are

innovative and our technology is proven. We have experience working

with a wide range of separation challenges, as well as different local

requirements and regulations. We continuously improve our products

for new and stricter regulations.

We are specialized in the design and supply of complete process

system packages down to individual internals for gas/liquid and

liquid/liquid separation, oil treatment, sand handling, and produced

water treatment. We also have extensive knowledge and experience

designing and manufacturing high-quality shell and tube heat

exchangers.

At Frames we provide optimized solutions for the gas

market. For instance, our THIOPAQ gas sweetening

technology integrates H2S removal with elemental

sulfur production in a simple, stable and safe process

appropriate for a broad range of natural gas inlet

conditions. Our full range of gas services includes

gas separation, heat exchangers, air-cooled coolers,

CO2 gas sweetening, gas dehydration, dew point

control, hydrate inhibition, light hydrocarbon

recovery and fuel gas treatment.

Sustainable oil and gas extraction and production

require safe, reliable and highly available systems

and solutions. Managing risks, minimizing down-

time and protecting the environment are fundamen-

tal concerns that determine the life cycle of a field

or facility. In the total stream of well to pipe, the

focus of flow control and safeguarding is mainly on

the well. Today’s upstream oil and gas industry is

challenging with increasingly stringent environmental

and operating conditions. Our extensive experience in safeguarding

solutions and flow assurance applications helps us find the smartest

solutions for our clients, integrating hydraulic systems, safety-instru-

mented systems, chemical injection processes and services from our

automation centers, including our valve automation center.

At Frames, we take a lean and pragmatic approach to services,

customizing solutions to meet each customer’s needs. Our experi-

enced service engineers work one-on-one with customers in locations

around the world. Three decades of maintenance and field services

experience gives us the technical and administrative knowledge to

effectively manage asset life cycles. Our spare parts management

improves reliability.

Our experience enables us to provide extensive operator training,

on-site and in classrooms, for safe use of systems and facilities.

Large-scale upstream oil and gas plants and projects are complex.

We provide total plant solutions that integrate the full range of process

know-how, from concept development through to plant commissioning

and start-up, under a full guarantee. One way we do this is through

modularized packages. Frames designs and supplies modularized

packages, including complete plants and wellsite packages, all over

the world. These modularized packages are prefabricated and tested

in our workshop prior to final transportation to the site.

And throughout the project cycle, our extensive

process know-how and wide technology knowledge

allow us to assist with engineering studies, such as

conceptual, FEED and basic feasibility studies and

cost estimates. Being technology independent, we

can find the best solution from a range of options.

The final on-site construction activities, with a

minimum of civil works required, save time and

costs compared to stick-built strategies. In the same

way, we can deliver total biogas upgrade solutions

matched to specific customer requirements.

Sustainability

Protecting the environment and the use of sustainable technologies

are growing in importance as responsible companies demand cleaner

hydrocarbon recovery methods. At Frames we specialize in supplying

technologies and products that eliminate aromatics, clean wastewater

and reduce environmental impact for our customers. Our compact

and highly efficient designs also reduce the use of natural resources,

energy and maintenance, further increasing sustainability.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

Protecting our employees, contractors and customers, as well as the

environment, is important to us. We are certified according to interna-

tional standards, such as ISO 9001:2008, as well as many national

regulations, such as OHSAS 18001:2007. We also comply with require-

ments stipulated by our own Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

department. By applying these guidelines, we not only protect our

assets, but ensure the highest quality products. In addition, to

minimize problems during engineering, manufacturing, production,

installation and commissioning, final manufacturing is performed in

a Frames facility or under our strict supervision on location.

Certification

At Frames we are constantly seeking ways to improve our performance

at every level. As we’ve matured into a key player in the oil and gas

supply chain, we have implemented and complied with a wide range

of national and international certifications for quality, health and

safety. These certifications, including ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS

18001:2007, ISO 14001 and VCA, ensure reliable, high-quality

products and services for our customers and align our processes

with theirs.

“Of course, what we do matters.

But how we do it makes all the

difference.”

Research & Development

We continuously invest in research and development

through programs supported by in-house CFD

modeling and experiments. To expand our ability to

explore and test new technologies, we collaborate

with internationally renowned universities and

conduct in-situ field tests onshore, as well as

offshore. We have successfully developed and

implemented new technologies for gas/liquid/liquid

separation, defoaming, desulfurization, salt removal

from glycol and the removal of all BTEX from off-gas

streams, using our OVC™ technology. We currently

have a wide variety of research activities such as

investigating subsea deployment and energy

savings for existing processes, treating gas and

produced water, developing remote operating

locations and protecting the environment.

High Performance Frames Axial Cyclones MEG Recovery and WISE™ Subsea Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs)Electrostatic Coalescers

ExperienceOur Added Value

The separation of fine mist from gas can be performed by various

demisting devices. The suitability of each type of demisting device

depends on operating conditions, allowable pressure drop and

performance requirements. Our axial cyclones are designed for low

and high operating pressures (>80 barg) with a minimal pressure drop

and a high separation efficiency. Furthermore, the required vessel area

for axial cyclones is drastically reduced compared to the vessel area

required for wire mesh demisters. The typical maximum pressure drop

across the axial cyclones is only 30 mbar.

Our axial cyclones are optimized in our test setup and through

modelling with the latest CFD technology. At Frames we are able to

provide a high efficiency separation performance with a low pressure

drop independent of the operating pressure. Furthermore, turndown

ratios larger than 10 can be achieved by positioning a wire mesh

demister upstream of the Frames Axial Cyclones.

Together with our partner Novasep, we integrated

the MEG recovery with a newly patented waste-free

inhibitor salt extraction system (WISE™) that uses

proven desalination technology to efficiently remove

salt during the MEG recovery process.

Fed into the pipeline between the producing wellhead

and the receiving facility, MEG inhibits hydrate

formation in the pipeline, while also protecting the

pipes from corrosion.

By carefully controlling MEG salt levels, WISE™

technology helps protect the system from salt buildup

along with potential damage caused by salt crystals

clogging the production machinery.

Proven Technology Compact & Cost-Effective Complete Units

Our vast experience in coalescer engineering gives our customers a

competitive advantage when it comes to cleaning crude oil. Our

solutions are engineered to match your unique crude oil composition

and downstream processes. By efficiently and effectively removing

undesirable water and salts, we’re able to increase the quality of crude

oil, cut transport costs and protect downstream processes and

equipment. Removal of water and contaminants generally comprises

two steps: dehydration and desalting. Frames Coalescers are designed

for both steps, and are applied in upstream, as well as downstream

applications, both in oil fields and refineries.

At the Tsimin-Xux super-light oil field discovered in 2010 by Pemex,

we fabricated and supplied the dehydration and desalting system for

the PB-Litoral-A production platform. The system consist of four

Frames Electrostatic Coalescers and their ancillary equipment.

Our subsea or production hydraulic power units

(HPUs) are very reliable and provide clean and stable

hydraulic water-based fluids at various pressure

levels to subsea systems. Our HPUs are complete

units, equipped with instrumentation, pumps,

motors, filters, valves and accumulators, designed

according to client specifications and international

standards. The units work with low-viscosity and

low-lubricity water-based subsea production fluids,

such as HW525, HT2 and HW443. For hazardous

areas, we can integrate a system (MCC with PLC) to

control and power both the motors and monitoring

of the HPU units.

For Petrobras, we delivered subsea HPUs, well

control racks, and SESDV panels for the FPSO

Replicantes project.

With more than three decades of field work around the globe, we’ve

added value to a wide range of projects. We’ve selected six projects

to show our strengths, from components to total plant solutions. In

projects taking months or even years, we put our know-how to work

for our oil and gas customers.

After Frames was invited to participate in the Viura project, we first

studied the available conceptual design documents in detail and

further optimized the overall scope of supply with respect to minimiz-

ing the required investment costs. Our high performance in a previous

project in Spain, where we were able to significantly save CAPEX and

OPEX by being sharp, was well known to our client. We were able to

show our determination to select the best solution, both technically as

well as financially, so our client awarded us with a lump sum contract

“A 50% cost reduction had

to be achieved in order

to be successful.”

to design and supply all the required equipment.

For the on-site construction and installation phase,

Frames subcontracted work to local companies

familiar with working in accordance with our client’s

requirements. The Viura Project has been developed

in an environmentally respectful manner and Frames

has significantly contributed to developing the local

community.

Low Investment Costs PartnershipThe Middelie Project (The Netherlands) The Viura Project (Spain)

Our Added Value

Thinking out of the box was the aim of the client for the redevelop-

ment of this marginal gas field at Middelie. Even though the wellsite

was abandoned in the early 90s, significant reserves were still present.

Furthermore, the site is located on the boundary of the Beemster

Polder, a reclaimed marshland that is a UNESCO World Heritage site,

so this project had to be carefully planned and developed with special

care for the environment. Based on the traditional stick-built project

approach typically used by our client on larger projects, the project

return on investment was just too low. A total cost reduction by half

of their first estimates had to be achieved in order to be successful.

The Middelie Project The Viura Project

Working closely with our client, we found ways to

significantly reduce costs and delivery times, as

well as minimize on-site activities throughout the

project. As it turned out, the cost estimates made

during the concept stage were still very accurate

during project execution. We were, indeed, able

to reduce investment costs by half, thanks to very

close cooperation with our client throughout

the project.
