The facts: • Drivers are more and more
distracted by various apps that they use!

• Most highway accidents occur in the fast lane!
• Drivers in the fast lane are more susceptible
Keep your eyes peeled
Keep your eyes focused on the traffic all around you to increase your chance of seeing a potential problem
Watch out for ! blind spots
• Don’t rely solely on your side and rearview mirrors!
• Turn to look directly into the lanes beside you to avoid missing something left undetected!
• Consider blind spots for other drivers, particularly truckers
Hands !on !
the !wheel
• The ideal position to keep your hands on the wheel is left hand on the 9 o’clock, and right hand on the 3!
• This facilitates maximum vehicle control when you’re forced into quick maneuvering
Move your seat up
• Move your seat close enough to the steering wheel so that your wrist can rest on the top of the wheel!
• This ensures that your arms won’t fatigue easily and will be prepared for any last-minute evasive maneuvers
Judge a driver by their car’s condition
• If a car is really beat-up, chances are it’s because of an inattentive driver!
• Drifting in the lane often identifies a tired, drunk or preoccupied driver!
• Keep an eye out for warning signs
Know your car’s limits
• Pay attention to how your particular vehicle reacts in certain situations!
• This will prepare you for any potential challenges on the road
Keep your car in good shape
• Make sure you stick to your car’s maintenance schedule • This ensures that your car
will be able to accelerate, stop and steer when necessary
Be careful at night • Driving at night can be
dangerous!• It’s a prime time for
tired or drunk drivers!• Drive extra defensively,
and don’t drive down a dark road with burned-out lights
Take a class
• A high-performance driving school is actually a great way to improve your skill as a driver!
• It will teach you what it means to drive a car at the limits, and practice maneuvers to avoid accidents in a safe and controlled environment
