Introduction

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) is recognized as one of the greatest architects of all time. From his early career with the firm of Adler and Sullivan to his final projects, Wright produced a wide range of work numbering almost 1,000 structures, about 400 of which were built. His innovative designs include the prairie house and the Usonian house.

This list includes structures identified as the work of architect Frank Lloyd Wright by searching the online Historic American Buildings Survey / Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) records and by consulting the book The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright: A Complete Catalog by William Allin Storrer, 2nd ed., 1974. As additional documentation is digitized from the HABS/HAER collection, entries will be added.

Select the small images below to view a larger version. Select the Call Number of the structure to retrieve, via the Prints and Photographs Online Catalog (PPOC), a bibliographic record for the entire group of documentation. The bibliographic record will provide fuller information about the house in question (such as owners' names) and generally includes additional images.

Images can be downloaded from this site. The Library of Congress cannot give or deny permission to publish or otherwise distribute material in its collections, but a rights statement for the Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record is available. Photographic and other types of copies can also be ordered from the Library of Congress Photoduplication Service by selecting the "How to Order a Copy of This Item" link in the bibliographic record and following the instructions given there.
