Frankford Middle School After School Late Bus
Beginning Monday, October 5, 2009, there will be a late bus that leaves from the bus lanes at 4:45 PM on Mondays-Thursday every week (unless otherwise specified). This bus is to be used by students who will be attending tutorials and school-sponsored activities only. Sign-ups for the late bus will begin on Monday, September 21, 2009. To use the bus, students must follow the steps below everyday they want to ride the late bus: Make sure that there is a bus stop for their location. This can be
obtained by going to the front office or seeing one of the administrators. (Mrs. Godi, Mrs. Schulte, or Ms. Lovell)
Before they leave the tutorial class/school activity, they must get
their teacher to sign and date a tutorial pass. They will get the tutorial pass from that teacher.
They will then go to the library for study hall with their signed pass.
They will check in there and wait for the bus—during this time, they will need to either study or read quietly. Students may not “hang out” in the school building.
The buses will typically drop students off at their bus stop
between 5-6 pm. We are excited to offer this service to our students and maintain high behavioral expectations for students staying after school and on the bus.

August 21, 2009 Dear students and parents/guardians: The Dallas Police Department will begin enforcing a daytime juvenile curfew as of August 24, 2009, the first day of classes. The ordinance, adopted by the Dallas City Council in May, prohibits students under age 17 from being in a public place or business within the Dallas city limits between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. when school is in session. Violators will be returned to school, and can be given a citation. The Class C misdemeanor carries a maximum fine of $500. The ordinance has three aims: 1. Keep students in school where they belong 2. Protect minors from becoming victims of crime 3. Protect the public from juvenile offenders Upon encountering a possible violator, a Dallas police officer will determine if the student has a legitimate reason to be off campus, as allowed in the ordinance. For example, the student’s school may not be in session, or the student is on an approved field trip. If one of the numerous exceptions applies, and no other reason exists to detain the student, he or she is free to go. Recognizing that the goal is to change truant behavior, City of Dallas municipal court judges plan to offer most minors and their parents or guardians the opportunity to take relevant courses or workshops in lieu of paying a fine. Parents/guardians can also be cited for allowing the student to violate the curfew. Parent/guardian violators will be warned first, and only cited after repeat offenses. You can find out more about the daytime curfew at www.dallascityhall.com. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Yours truly, Lt. Robert Hinton Dallas Police Department
