April contest: Poetry. This is an in club contest. You just need to have a poem to read. Catego-ries are: Paws for Poetry, Nature or Any Other. I hope to hear some really great poems.

We had some new 4-H’ers that par-ticipated in the horse show and live-stock show this year. Carson Smith, Sarah Miller, Audrey Finley and James Ezell. Great job everyone!

Character Counts: Character Development

As we start to wind down the year, we have been talking a lot about character. So we are going to be discussing what character means to you and how do you show character when you think no one is look-ing.

Be the best person you can possibly be at all times. Act as though no one is watching you. Be kind, be caring, and be a person of character.

If there are a youth in shooting sports who wants to be the shooting sports ambassador for next year, you have to go to 4-H Uni-versity and apply in person this year. So please get in touch with me about this great opportunity.

4-H University If you are at least 13 years of age or older, now is the time to start thinking about going to 4-H University. It will be held the June 21-24, 2016. It is a great opportunity to enter a contest. There are many to choose from and you may win a trip. There is also Clover College. We are on the LSU campus so it’s a great way to see the college. Lots of fun to be had. Think about going. I would like to know by April.

Co-op Youth Leadership Conference

Youth in 8th-12th grade are invited and encour-age to attend this conference. It will be held April 8-10 at Camp Grant Walker. This is a very hands-on conference where you role play a coop-erative business.

You are able to earn a cash prize or a trip for being a top leader. This is a great way to learn leadership skills, make new friends, and have fun. A talent show is held one of nights plus there are dances, movies, pizza both nights. The best part is that it only costs $30.

Deadline to enter this conference is March 14th. All paperwork (including registration form, health forms) and payment must be in the 4-H office by this deadline.

Hey 4th-6th grad-ers. Now is the time to start Setting your sights on 4-H Camp. Our week to camp this year is June 27-July 1, 2016. I’ll be

mailing out the information soon to your homes. Camp is always a great time to make new friends, learn new skills, and enjoy being outside. Plus they do have a talent show during the week. It’s a great time to swim, do arts and crafts, see movies, dance! Look for information to be out pretty soon.

Parish Ambassador Contest will be held March 30th at 2:00 pm. There are many categories to choose (sugar, egg, crawfish, etc) You pick one aspect and do a talk. Winners go to state. More information will be coming. Think about entering. Great op-portunity to do a state contest.
