FRCE campaign “Let’s respect our women & promotes girls education”
As we know that Women are the integral part
of a society. They are entitled to equality in
every sphere of life. Phenomenal changes
have taken place across the world in recent
year, but the status and fate of women has not
changed much. In Pakistan, their situation has
become worse. We were recently rated as one
of the worst countries in the world when it
comes to the way we treat women. More than
60 years after independence, 80 per cent of
Pakistani women are still subjected to
domestic violence. One in three has to endure
villainy like rape, honor killing, and immolation and acid attacks. Our country is ranked 82 out
of 93 countries on the Gender Development Index and 152 out of 156 countries on the Gender
Empowerment Measure. We are also among a handful of countries where there is a negative sex
ratio of 100 women to 108 men. Woman has lack of access to resources including finance; land,
inheritance, rights, education, employment, justice, healthcare and nutrition are major causes of
female backwardness in Pakistan. It is widely acknowledged that a combination of poverty and
the low status awarded to women is indeed a major problem. Many women die from childbirth
on account of poor health facilities. And more than half the women in the country cannot read
and write. Foundation of Research & Community Empowerment (FRCE) has started campaign
“Let’s Respect our women & promotes girls education” in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Tando
AllahYar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpur Khas and Matiari and through campaign males are
motivated and mobilized that Women play an important role in our society. A woman is the one
who is responsible for proper development of her child and she grooms the overall personality of
her child. A woman can be a mother, a sister, a wife, a daughter etc. She is the symbol of love,
security, affection and comfort. Our religion also emphasizes the rights and importance of a
woman in society. As it is said: - “The hand that rocks the cradle rule the world"
It means a woman has the power to do anything in the world: she can even rule the whole world.
But it is our common observation that women do not get the status they deserve.
