Frederick Douglass was born in 1818...a slave.

  His master was like a father to him.

His master took care of  Douglass and had fun with Douglass all the time...

Until he went to live with his grandma.

With 11 other kids.

For only one year.

Because he got sent to live with Aaron Anthony.

Then he got sent to live with the Aulds over in baltimore.

He asked Sophia Auld (Mr.Auld's daughter) to teach him how to read and write.

 She started to teach him but they did not get so far because Mr. Auld broke it up.

Later that year Douglass was told that his mother (Harriet Baily) past away.

After that he tried to escape.

He failed

Then the Aulds traded Douglass to Mr. Covey

Covey was not a nice master.

One year later he wrote a book.

In the book he talks about the previous year.

Frederick Douglass had two spouses and five kids.

His spouses were named...Anna Murray and Helen Pitts.

Annie Douglass is not in this picture because...

 She died at the age of ten.Because she got very ill.

Frederick Douglass died from a heart attack at the age of 77  

Why was Frederick Douglass famous?

because he wrote five books, also...

Because all the quotes he imbeded in his speeches... the majority of those quotes are on the internet today.

Some of those quotes are...

''A gentleman will not insult me, and no man not a gentleman can insult me.''

''I didn't know I was a slave until I found out I couldn't do the things I wanted.''

''If there is no struggle, there is no progress.''

And he made a huge impact by encouraging 165,000 African American familys to get an education.

He also started a campain for womans rights.
