New Issue Every Week! FREE! Skunk heaven: Landa and Milton Berry, of Summerville, South Carolina, are state-licensed wildlife rehabilitators, but sometimes the animals they rescue continue to live with them, which explains why they have 42 skunks in their home. The animals have become domesticated and have had their stink-bomb glands removed, so there is no risk of polluting the whole house with the smell of skunk. The black critters, with the stripe of white down their backs, have the run of the house and are inclined to climb into bed with the couple. “They’re high-maintenance little guys,” says Landa, who also has two dogs, three cats, a bird and two flying squirrels in her personal menagerie. Tuning in: Villagers in eastern India can now tune in before they turn in. The lower-caste villagers in the Bihar state called Dalits, live a difficult life at the bottom of India’s ancient Hindu caste system. Bihar’s Tribal Welfare Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, said the villagers are being given free radios so they can turn them on at the end of a hard day’s work and enjoy listening to music and hearing the news, thereby improving their awareness. He says the move will empower the Dalits, who make up over 16 percent of the country’s population, yet continue to face discrimination and injustice. Prayer appeal: Residents in the remote mountain hamlets of Fiesch and Fieschertal in Switzerland are appealing to the pope to let them pray that the Great Aletsch glacier will stop receding. Since 1678, the villagers have been praying that Europe’s largest glacier wouldn’t expand to the point where it destroyed their homes. But now, with global warming, the glacier’s advancement appears to be a threat no longer. Now, it’s the melting waters that pose a risk of flooding. Rev. Pascal Venetz told his flock they should continue to pray, but to pray that the glacier doesn’t melt any further. Sweet success: Clyde Persley worked three jobs to support his wife and four-year-old daughter. One of his jobs was to run candy-making machines at Santa Cruz Nutritionals. Now, the Santa Cruz native is headed for the sweet life, having won $39 million in the state lottery. Persley’s other two jobs are as a limo driver and a restaurant worker. Persley, 49, was thrilled to win the Super-Lotto Plus jackpot, but admitted he wasn’t sure he was ready to retire from the working life just yet. He says working has always meant a lot to him. Your Weekly Horoscope

Your imagination is stimulated, and you need activities and entertainments that are colorful, out of the ordinary, and definitely not mundane. Lucky numbers: 8, 17, 19, 31, 35, 44.

You’re inclined to use charm, gentle coaxing, and loving persuasion, rather than more direct, forceful methods to get what you want. Lucky numbers: 4, 5, 14, 19, 31, 47.

40, 43, 45. You have a low tolerance following rule, and you could make some cre-ative changes and discoveries, or in-vent a new way of doing things. Lucky

At this time, pleasure and affection are more important to you than work, and you may be rather lazy, but pleasantly and cheerfully so. Lucky numbers: 11, 12, 13, 18, 20, 44.

Your personal ambitions and drive to assert yourself and make an impact on the world meet with considerable opposition now. Lucky numbers: 8, 12, 16, 19, 25, 40.

You are definitely more idealistic, tolerant, and selfless in your relation-ships, which may cause you to act against your own interests. Lucky numbers: 11, 25, 26, 39, 41, 44.

There is an easy flow of communica-tion with others, focusing on intellectu-al, rather than intimate or emotional, interrelating. Lucky numbers: 1, 9,14, 35, 38, 98.

numbers: 7, 13, 24, 29, 25, 39. Family members may wish to par-ticipate in some of the activities you share with your spouse or romantic companion at this time. Lucky num-bers: 10, 12, 17, 19, 37, 39.

An important love relationship, or your marriage, can be especially rewarding to you now. Moral support is always available close to home. Lucky numbers: 3, 8, 9, 18, 28, 39.

numbers: 18, 27, 30, 40, 47, 48. You may get saddled with others’ responsibilities now, and then com-plain you are being taken advantage of. Someone will hear you. Lucky

31, 41, 43. Carefully go over plans or work endeavors, as they may backfire if you try too hard to make an impression on others. Lucky numbers: 13, 20, 30,

Super strength: They may be tiny, but fleas are mighty. They can pull 160,000 times their weight and can jump 150 times their own length. That’s like a human being able to jump 1,000 feet. Tapping frenzy: New Zealand’s Tony Adams must have been in a tapping frenzy when he set a world record in 2008 by tap dancing 602 taps in a minute. That works out to just over 10 taps a second. Tall people: If you’re looking for height, go to the Netherlands, where you will find the world’s tallest people. The average Dutch male is 6 feet tall and the average Dutch female is 5-foot-7. Ugly bird: The turkey is one ugly bird, in part because of three weird features on its head. The snood is the flap of skin just above its beak, and its dewlap is the part that connects the head and the neck, followed by the caruncles, the pimply bright-pink growths on its throat.

Computer scientists do it byte by byte. Bathquake: the violent quake that rattles the entire house when the water faucet is turned on to a certain point. A cat has paws at the end of its claws; a comma has pause at the end of its clause. The only thing worse than getting your heart broken is breaking it yourself. Is rain saved up in cloud banks? It would save a lot of time if the supermarket had an aisle marked “unhealthy stuff”. Be a good listener. Your ears will never get you into trouble. A clean tie attracts the soup of the day. Birds take off at sunrise. On the opposite side of the world, they are landing at sunset. This causes the earth to spin on its axis. Why don’t anteaters ever get ill? Because they are full of antibodies.

1. Elba. 2. Antelope. 3. Paraguay. 4. The ear. 5. Snake.

You may not want to follow anybody else’s lead at this time, and, fortunate-ly, you may be able to find ways to be yourself without offending or upsetting others. Lucky numbers: 11, 29, 30,
