The paddle is about 5 mileslong and family friendly. It will be a greatday to get out and enjoy the CoquilleRiver, organizers said. Bring a water craft, PFD (life vest), water

BANDON - Join archaeologist and histo-rian Reg Pullen on Sunday, Aug. 5, for a 4-mile walking tour of Bandon with theSouth Coast Striders. Pullen will share allthe local lore and colorful history ofBandon while touring various historicalpoints of interest.The total hike is 4 miles, rated moderate,
with some sand walking involved andshould last 2.5 to 3 hours. Meet at 10 a.m.at the public parking lot of the BandonHistorical Society Museum at the corner ofU.S. Highway 101 and Fillmore Ave. If thelot is full, find additional parking behindFace Rock Creamery.The first part of the walk will take place in
Old Town Bandon and those who aren’t up for
the longer beach walk can end the walk there.Dress appropriately for the weather. A
windbreaker with a hood is recommendedfor the beach section. Walking sticks mightbe helpful for the beginning of the beachwalk. Bring water. Those participatingmight want to pack a lunch to eat on thePort of Bandon Boardwalk, or may want toplan to eat at one of Bandon’s many finelunch spots.After the hike, people are encouraged to
visit the Bandon Historical SocietyMuseum. Because it is a Sunday, admis-sion will be free, thanks to the FreeSummer Sundays program sponsored byFirst Interstate Bank and Best Western Innat Face Rock.
