Over 230 artists working across the stunning county ofDevon are waiting to welcome you to their uniqueworkspaces. There is so much to explore: paintingand printmaking, ceramics and textiles, sculpture,jewellery, photography and more.

This free guide brings together details of all the artists taking part in our 16-day event. Use the maps included to plan a trail of your personal favourites and explore beautiful and unseen partsof the region along the way.

Finding the StudiosEach area begins with an overview map, whichindicates the general location of each venue soyou can see where clusters of artists are locatedfor planning your day out: it should be used inconjunction with a road map, web mapping

or SatNav to pinpoint the venue’s precise location. Each venue’sentry also provides detailed local directions and our black andyellow directional arrows point the way to a venue as you getclose to it. Tourist Information Centres can also be a great sourceof local knowledge and can help you to locate participating studios.

How to use this free guide Opening Days and TimesUnless otherwise stated, venues’ standard opening timesare: 11am - 6pm. There are two late evenings (Thursday15th and 22nd), when we open 6pm - 8pm. If a venue is openon those evenings, the date is followed by the letter ‘E’ - for

example 15E = Thursday 15th September 6pm - 8pm.

bottom of each entry, anexample of which is

shown here. If a dateis crossed through

Artists who have received these bursaries are indicated with the BursaryRecipient logo. Bursary winners have been selected based on thequality of their work and the bursary is aimed at those taking their firststeps into professional arts practice, returning to creative practice after acareer break or change, or taking their art in a new direction.

It was with great sadness that in May 2016 we learnt of the death of Joanna Radford, afounding member of Devon Artist Network andits Chair until I took the reins last year. WithoutJoanna it would be no exaggeration to say DANwould not exist, she was the inspiration anddrive that has kept DAN together. Her legacy isa strong, vibrant organisation that the Board isdetermined to ensure continues to grow as shewould have wished.

As a mark of our gratitude the Board have created the Joanna Radford Awardto be given each year to one recipient of the Emerging Artist Bursaries (see page 3). This year’s award goes to Luna North (Venue 2, page 12).

We hope in thisway, futuremembers of DAN,and the widerpublic, willremember Joannaand come to knowhow important shewas to us.
