HOTEL GYM REFURBHISHMENT— CREATING THE PERFECT AMBIENCE:

Aircon Refrigeration ltd was contracted to redesign and install a complete air conditioning package consisting of 7No Heat Recovery VRF systems to Bannatynes Hotel; Gym, Spinning Room, Aerobic Suite, Reception, Changing Rooms, Quiet Rooms, Lounge, Play Room and Spa, to create all year-round comfort cooling and heating.

The scope included to decant and environmentally dispose of existing air conditioning systems and refrigerant.

All pipework and associated fittings were installed, tested and labelled in accordance with the latest F-Gas Regulation, BS EN 378:2016 and the Pressure Equipment Directive.

The project was completed over an 8-week time period with a mixture of night and day time working, for minimum disruption to site members and customers.

Clear lines of communication and greater understanding of the customer’s specification was required to ensure all safety measures and needs were met.

The systems features included Energy Efficiency Rating A, humidity reduction, noise reduction technology, optional timer, remote control and the ability to switch from comfort cooling to heating easily.

Excellent planning and contracting from our suppliers, customer, and the exceptional efforts of the installation engineers from Aircon Refrigeration created an efficient timeline for successful completion of the installation.

A Fridge is a

Fridge Right ?

“Refrigerator” is defined as “an appliance or compartment which is artificially kept cool and used to store food and drink” There are approximately 19 different types of refrigerators including: *Bottle Chillers: solely for the storage/display of packaged beverage products not potentially hazardous to foods, such as soft drinks, beer and wine.

Display Refrigerators: display foods for consumer for purchase, designed to maintain safe temperatures and not for cool down.

*Blast Chillers: designed for rapid intermediate chilling of food products within a specific time period.

*Buffet Units: designed to hold refrigerated food and maintain temperatures. They are intended for customer self-service, such as a salad bar.

*Storage Refrigerators: designed to store non-frozen foods between short periods of preparation, service, display or sale.

*Walk-in Refrigerator: a temperature-controlled room used to maintain prescribed cold food holding temperatures.

Practical tips

The coldest part of the fridge should be between 0°C and 5°C (32°F & 41°F ). General refrigerator temperature should be 4.4°C/40°F or below - check the temperature at regular intervals.

Refrigerate or freeze perishables, prepared foods and leftovers within two hours. Food will cool more quickly in smaller amounts, stored in shallow dishes or is aided with cooling (ice) sticks.

Make a temperature map by placing thermometers throughout the unit and take regular readings, store potentially hazardous foods in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

Don’t over-fill the refrigerator. Cold air must circulate to keep food safe. Products should be stored properly, below the stack line limit.

A regular maintenance program will help ensure that refrigeration equipment serves for longer and operates more efficiently. Find out more: TEESSIDE: 01642 249026 or ROTHERHAM: 01709 367001

A new development in the marketplace: Free Wi-Fi for Low Pollution sites

“TreeWiFi” monitors the quality of the air

around hotspots and shuts off Free

WiFi, if the air is too polluted. This new

Invention is designed to not only reward

those with cleaner air but to make those

more aware of pollution in their area.

Sadly, this specific technology isn’t

available in the UK, however we are seeing

companies creating innovative ways for people to monitor air pollution and even combat it;

Pigeon Air Patrol allows Londoners to tweet where they are, to @PigeonAir and receive a reply that outlines the level of pollution in that area and the purity.

Air Conditioning isn’t just for the summer – The Health Benefits of Air Conditioning

Businesses and AC contractors should be aware of all the health benefits of air conditioning in order to counteract their often-negative portrayal.

You only have to google something like “health risks air conditioning” to see an awful lot of scaremongering from various sections of the press on the subject, much of it unfounded or at least misinterpreted. It’s somewhat understandable that your customers may be a little apprehensive about installing a new AC system.

So let’s combat the bad press…

• Air conditioners help respiratory conditions

• Consistent temperature is healthy

• It heats and cools

• They promote a constant pleasant room temperature...

• in turn promoting a happy work environment

• It helps to removes fumes and odours

• Keeps humidity steady and within the healthy range

Is Air Conditioning just for

Ever wondered what the best temperatures are to keep your refrigerated food? • CHEESE: once ripened chill at 35°F/1.6°C.

• DESSERTS: including fromage frais, mousses, crème caramel & products containing whipped cream 4.6°F/8°C.

• COOKED PRODUCTS: including meat, fish, eggs, cereals, pulses and vegetables 40°F/4.4°C.

• PRE-PACKED FOODS/READY TO EAT: Always cook from chilled, never from room temperature - 40°F/4.4°C.

This is not an exhaustive list and each case must be given careful consideration. Always read food packaging, check the “used by” or “best before” date and do not take any risks if you are unsure.

The General Regulation Requirement: Raw materials, ingredients, intermediate products and finished products likely to support the reproduction of pathogenic micro-organisms or the formation of toxins are not to be kept at temperatures that might result in a risk to health. The cold chain is not to be interrupted. However, limited periods outside temperature control are permitted for, handling during preparation, transport, storage, display & service of food, provided that it does not result in a risk to health.

It is an offence for a food business operator to contravene the general requirement.

Chill Holding Requirements: Food that is likely to support the growth of pathogenic micro-organisms or the formation of toxins must be kept at 8°C or below. In the absence of preserving factors, food should be kept under temperature control to help secure its safety.

Guidance on Temperature Control Legislation in the United Kingdom: Regulation (EC) 852/2004 The Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 The Food Hygiene

(Scotland) Regulations 2006 The Food Hygiene (Wales) Regulations 2006 The Food Hygiene Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006.

Generally when people think of air conditioning, they think only of its cooling capacity, but few really consider the heating element or even the health benefits, particularly for allergy and asthma sufferers.

With summer waning and winter on the horizon, the reasons to feel a little blue can start to stack up, the shorter days and darkening evenings, the over indulgence & over-spending during the Christmas period, the thought of the long, cold dreary months before spring… Many employers don’t realise the massive effect this can have on their business. Employees can be less productive, customers less responsive to the services and products on offer.

The simple solution is to TURN UP THE HEAT, It’s said that when we feel blue we reach for things that make us feel warm. Try keeping your building at a warm comfortable temperature, with plenty of warm drinks in the canteen or on your menu.

Air conditioning can be an energy-efficient solution: even over the winter, air conditioning units consume less electricity than storage heaters or radiators. Air conditioning has a poor reputation when it comes to the environment, but if you get the right system and use it responsibly it will save you money and reduce your carbon footprint.

Refrigerant prices are still on the up!

Producers and suppliers are advising us that costs are continuing to increase. Impacted by raw material supply and HFC component availability. The demand for access to their CO2 equivalent tonnes quota for 2017 continues to surpass expectations, resulting in further price increases and no alternative.

We recommend the move away from high GWP to lower GWP alternative refrigerants. We will keep you informed of any FGas or regulation updates and make you aware of any cost saving changes to our service provision.
