Astronomical by Scott MarleyAll Ages (Booking Required)

The scale of the Universe is unimaginable; just to travel across our galaxy would take many thousands of human lifetimes. Instead, let us bring the Universe to you! Beginning here on the Earth, we visit the planets and moons of our Solar System before venturing out to nebulae, black holes and beyond.

This show combines the latest imagery from probes and telescopes with fascinating live demonstrations to get you up close and personal with some of the wonders or our Universe!

Science Shows for All Ages

Power Up! by Neil MonteiroAll Ages (Booking Required)

Taking a lesson from video games, this interactive show is a glimpse into how the technology of the future might allow humans to Power Up their abilities - from cybernetic eyes to rocket shoes - and how the people of tomorrow might look like the science fiction of today.

Featuring mass-experiments, games and mind-blowing demonstrations, this is a show that’ll leave you wondering “How?” but also “When...?”

Why Are Apple Seeds Brown? by Sean MacAnTsaoirAll Ages (Booking Required) Why do we eat apples, what happens to the apples we eat and why do apple seeds need us to eat them to allow them to grow into new trees?

In this show we will look at seed dispersal, survival and germination and examine issues such as the human digestive system, good sugar versus bad sugar, and the importance of a balanced diet.

The Maths of Juggling by Colin WrightAll Ages (Booking Required) Juggling has fascinated people for centuries. Seemingly oblivious to gravity, the skilled juggler will keep several objects in the air at one time, and weave complex patterns that seem to defy analysis.

This show will demonstrate juggling patterns and the basic maths which can be used to describe and classify these, while also entertaining the audience with juggling skills.

The Air Show by Sue MartinAll Ages (Booking Required)

From the gases in the air to the forces that keep aeroplanes in the skies, The Air Show is a visual, practical exploration of many science concepts surrounding flight.

RoboCode with the BoeBotKey Stages 2 & 3 (Booking Required)

This workshop will introduce your pupils to the excitement of computer programming in the context of robotics. Initially using drag and drop commands to build an understanding of the structure of programmes and moving on to writing computer code to programme their robots to complete the BoeBot Challenge.

Titanic Science - TeacherWorkshop (Booking Required)

Jim McDaid PSTT Fellow, Hazelwood Integrated Primary School

An introduction to Titanic Science - where the Titanic stories meet Science Enquiry.A hands on practical taster session sharing the science concepts linked to the Titanic narrative.

Science in Eco Schools - TeacherWorkshop (Booking Required)

Neil McAllister, Fairview Primary School & Jocelyn Brown, Ballycraigy Primary School

Inspiring teachers to achieve the Eco School Green Flag while developing great, practical science across the school. As well as sharing ideas and resources for developing science across the ten topics, there will also be some practical elements to integrate straight into your topic work. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the Green Flag process and how science is at its core!
