About Free4U Computing• Unitec Free4U computer courses in Albany and

Henderson are a great way to upskill yourself for your job search, to improve your computing skills for your current job, for personal interest or to open up further study options.  

• We offer FREE self paced introductory Office 2010 courses as well as Getting Started, Keyboarding and Internet and Email.  Students can start anytime but must book in person/ online/ by email/ by phone. 

• We are launching Office 2013 courses soon.

About Free4U Computing contd.• Free4U is open to Unitec staff, students and anyone from

the community who is a NZ citizen or NZ permanent resident, aged 16 and over. You must bring proof of NZ citizenship or permanent residency as described on our website to your first session at Free4U.

• Students can start with any of our courses, anytime, and take the courses at their own pace.  

• Students work through our text books, making notes and doing practical exercises on our computers as they learn. Facilitators are available to assist if required.

About Free4U Computing contd.• Our session times are 1.5 hours each and students

can attend a maximum of 3 sessions per day, however the student can attend when and how often is convenient for them until they have completed the course.

• The best thing about Free4U is there is no pressure, no exams and best of all, it’s free!

• Remember to bring your ID, a USB and a pen to your first session.

Student Profile – Meleane TauvaleMeleane Tauvale, a nurse by profession, heard about us through WINZ in Orewa and decided to come to us last year with no knowledge of computers. She progressed so much that this year that she is going to be studying the Certificate in Business Administration and Computing Level 3 (fulltime) at Waitakere campus. She loved her time at Free4U and was grateful for the opportunity and support that we were able to give her.

Student Profile – James ManningJames Manning enrolled at Free4U Computing Henderson to upskill himself in using Microsoft Office to assist with his job search as a librarian in the public service industry. He is currently studying research and working for the council in the events sector and is confident that the computing skills he's picked up at Free4U are assisting him in his current workplace and will assist him in his future endeavours.

Student Profile – Gillian ReidGillian Reid, who has an Accounts/ Admin/ Payroll background, found Free4U online and enrolled to upskill herself in the latest Microsoft Applications.  She has a good technical understanding of computers.  She commented that Free4U is a good gap filler to assist in upskilling whilst looking for fulltime employment.  She has done most of the Free4U courses on offer and is confident that the skills she is getting at Free4U will help her in the workforce.
