Each book takes place in a different province or territory and is infused with local culture

and lore to really bring them to life.

Every book focuses on a unique right, freedom, and responsibility in the CanadianCharter of Rights and Freedoms. Some of the topics covered include feminism, equality,

acceptance, Aboriginal heritage, religion, safety, and discrimination.

The collection teaches children about the arts, social studies, language, health, and

physical education. They will have the opportunity to read and analyze texts, debate

social issues, discuss rights and freedoms, and learn about personal safety and security.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dustin Milligan first conceived the idea for La Charte pour les enfants when he was a

student at the Faculty of Law at McGill University. After his first year of studies, he was

concerned that the common citizen wasn't equipped to understand Canada's complicated

legal system.

He recognized that children were at a further disadvantage. By combining his love for

literature and law, Dustin created a series of books that offers children a basic

understanding of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
