You begin your trip even before you leave. In this course you begin to learn a new language the same way you learned your native language—through hearing and repeating. The conversational style of instruction immerses you in your new language. The instructor will dedicate part of the class to give you firsthand information about the culture and customs you will encounter. There will also be time for you to ask questions about the culture, people, or places of interest. Learning Objectives: Participants successfully completing this course will: 1. Learn to understand and respond to basic conversational phrases 2. Learn basic vocabulary 3. Learn the basics of French pronunciation 4. Be introduced to the basics of French grammar 5. Week 5 • Review • Travel information—outside of Paris, regions • More verbs • Time • Singular and plural • Practice a basic conversation

Week 6 • Review • Travel questions? • Survival phrases (not in textbook) • Common phrases • French culture 4
