The Voice of the French Maritime Industry

• Created in 2006 (by Francis VALLAT):

Goals :

– Gathering the whole maritime sectors (every kind of activities and structures) linked with blue economy

– Foster synergies between members, stimulate business and foremost sustainable development.

– Influence Policy & decision makers to consider blue growth as a main topic of the tomorrow’s economy and for the future of the planet.

Organisation and Action Plan

• Action plan works in 3 main axes: – Communication

• Promotion of Members

• Annual Maritime Economic Forum with more than 1.600 attendees (in 2016 opened by President of the French Republic)

– Synergies • Networking Buffets(6-8/year): create and animate a vast network

• Working groups: gathering membership on a dedicated theme (with examples: MRE, DSM, MSP, Marine Bio-resources, drones…)

– Permanent dialogue with policy, decision makers and Environmental NGO’s to drive decisions and regulations towards: • a well-balanced sustainable development policy

• a friendly maritime economy operational framework

International and Overseas

• Due to the specific French EEZ, 7 Overseas Maritime Clusters:

• Réunion, Fr. Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, New-

Caledonia, French Polynesia, St Pierre et Miquelon.

• Abroad, French Maritime Cluster Committees : Singapore,

Hong-Kong…

• Gathering of French companies settled in the area in order

to emphasize actions and contracts in the specific zone.

• Coordinated action with Ministry of Foreign affairs and

international development.

Europe

• CMF is founding member of European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC)

• CMF support the way forward to a European Maritime Cluster.

• To get a strong maritime voice aside of the EU bodies.
