Harry C. Bull, Jr., Ed.D. Superintendent Educational Services Center 4700 South Yosemite Street Greenwood Village, CO 80111 (720) 554-4262
2014-2015 Dear Students and Parents: Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! I hope your summer break has given you time to relax with family and friends and that you are prepared to meet the challenges of the new school year. We are prepared for you and excited to help you learn and succeed. Our mission, “to inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve, to care,” remains as strong as ever. As a member of the class of 2015 or 2027 or any place in between, we are committed to providing an education that will ready you for the next step in your journey—whether it be another year in the Cherry Creek Schools or college or military service or the workplace. We are committed to helping every student—all 54,500 of you. We work to be “dedicated to excellence” every day. This summer we have worked on making school buildings more safe and more ready for the technological demands of today’s students. Our teachers have been preparing our quality programming and working to address the new standards and state requirements. After all, the bar of excellence is always changing, and we are working to continuously improve. As your superintendent, I will continue the strong traditions of excellence in the Cherry Creek Schools. We are ready to start the new school year and welcome the opportunity to work with you as you develop new skills, acquire more knowledge, deepen your understanding of the world, and achieve your goals. I wish you a challenging, rewarding, and successful year filled with life-enriching learning experiences. Sincerely, Harry C. Bull, Jr.

Why should you pay your Activity Fee?
That’s a good question because most students don’t really know where that money goes. In some cases, the money is the sole form of funding for a particular activity, and in others, it is a supplement which in turn reduces the student cost of a product or event. The following is a list of programs, which are supported through the collection of $30 or 17 cents per day with your Activity Fee.
Your Activity Fee allows you free admission to all home athletic events. In addition, the following activities are supported through the collection of fees:
So why should you pay your Activity Fee? To support the activities listed above because they impact YOU! Thank You for your support.

A Message from the Counseling Department
Each year, a great deal of thought, time, energy, and money is involved in creating student
schedules. Last February, students were provided with information and counsel regarding course
selection. Course requests were determined after conversations with teachers, parents and counse-
lors. In April, teachers and counselors reviewed the courses each student chose. In May, student
requests were sent home for approval by parents. At this time, students were provided a final op-
portunity to request a different course. Throughout the summer, Grandview’s Registrar and
Grandview counselors have spent time re-checking student schedules and making final adjustments
when needed. Each of these steps was taken to ensure that every student is placed in appropriately
challenging coursework. Additionally, changing the master schedule as the school year begins is cost
prohibitive. Therefore, schedule changes in August will not be permitted.
Upon receiving his or her schedule, if a student believes it is in need of repair for one of the
reasons listed below, the student will be asked to complete a form identifying this need. This infor-
mation will be considered by the student’s counselor who will communicate with the student regard-
ing any adjustments that need to be made to the student’s schedule. It is the philosophy and belief
of the faculty and administration of Grandview High School that students may be scheduled into clas-
ses during all four periods of both A Days and B Days. Please do not request a particular resource
period.
Reasons for needing a schedule repair:
An incomplete schedule resulting from the closure of a course.
A schedule that does not include a sufficient number of credits (freshmen and sophomores must take
seven credits, juniors six credits, and seniors five credits).
A schedule that does not include four core classes (English, Science, Social Studies and Math)
A schedule that is unbalanced (e.g. four classes first semester and six second semester)
A schedule that places a student in the wrong level of course (e.g. a student who has not yet com-
pleted Spanish 1 is placed in Spanish 2)
A schedule that does not include courses needed to meet graduation requirements.
