Who is SPI?

What is SPI?

• SPI was the idea of the Deputy Police Chief. Aimed at providing an English-speaking “task force” at large events where people gather

• SPI officers are expected to interact with non-Japanese speaking people and render law enforcement/security assistance and services

Why SPI now?

• The Iwakuni Police Department realizes that the Air Station activities and population will increase in the coming months and years. To better serve the growing non-Japanese speaking population and address the concerns of the local nationals, SPI was created.

Bottom-line, what does SPI mean to me?

• When you see a Japanese Police Officer in Iwakuni during events and need assistance, seek them out as the ones wearing these hats and armbands can speak English.

What does Kawashimo Koban

mean to me?

• Courtesy Patrol should check-in from time-to-time, (Recommend: At least once a weekend, twice on long weekends)

This is not a Coffee House. Courtesy Patrol should not make multiple visits for breaks with the expectation of being served free coffee/tea

Note the Airplane Hanger-style roof
