Lord Jesus, when you walked with us on earth you spread your healing power. We place in your loving care, all who are affected by Coronavirus. Keep us strong in faith, hope and love. Bring relief to our sick, console our bereaved and protect those who care for us. Give wisdom and skill to all scientists, as they seek a healing remedy. We lift our prayer to you Lord, and trust in your infinite mercy, as we wait for the daybreak. Amen

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Autumn term is well and truly underway and the children of St Mary and St Pancras CE School continue to put their best foot forward with their learning.

School safety Reminders In school we have very robust procedures to minimise the risk of transmission.

It is very important that we keep our children and staff safe. When dropping off and collecting your children, please remember:

Only one parent/carer only

Keep your social distance

Avoid congregating after drop-off and pick up. I know it’s good to catch-up with other parents whist we are in lockdown but we have to protect our school

One thing is certain, our response to get through Covid-19 is not a sprint, but a marathon. Our school has an excellent staff-and we need to protect them in the same way you need to protect your families.

Please do everything you can to help us run the school as normally as possible for the children.

This Wednesday, we had a very thoughtful Remembrance Service delivered by Reverend Anne; a very stark reminder to us all of the horror of war and the pain suffered by all communities involved.

Reflecting on this, I am minded to the situation we are in now and the determination and resilience our school community, with you very much included, demonstrates every single day. Your children are an

inspiration to us all in terms of their resilience. For them, in school, it is business as usual and we want to keep it that way.

So stay safe, keep in close contact with us, look after eachother and have a lovely weekend,

Key Reminders: for 2020/21

While there is no access into the school, if any parent/carer needs to speak to the office please telephone on 0207 387 6117 or email admin@stmp.camden.sch.uk.

DINNER MONEY should be paid EVERY MONDAY at the START of the week

before your child has a meal. The cost of a meal is £2.22 a day or £11.10 per week. Envelopes can be brought to your child’s drop-off point where lunch money containers are available. Children having a meal on a Friday should pay on the day, before the meal is taken.

If you wish to change your child’s meal arrangements, please give four weeks’

notice at the office.

Please call the school office before 10.00am each day if your child is going to be absent.

Medical/dental appointments should be arranged before or after school wherever possible. Please provide evidence.

We do not encourage leave in term time, however, should you need to request this, please complete a form available from the office.

When access is permitted, please do not wear heels on the soft surfaces in the early year’s playground and around the jungle gym as this causes damage. Thank you.

Remembrance Day 2020

Remembrance honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We unite across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.

At St Mary and St Pancras, it was very different this year but we were able to have a socially distanced assembly for two of our years in the hall, with the remainder of the school watching virtually in their classrooms! We also carried out a 2 minute silence

at 11am.

“Nursery have been busy learning

all about Bonfire Night. We learnt

a song called ‘On Bonfire Night’

and the children enjoyed making

actions and sound effects for the

different fireworks in the song.

We also made various firework

pictures using different resources

such as, glitter, the interactive

whiteboard and chalk. As a special

treat, each child was given their

own sparkler to enjoy the magic of

"This week Reception learnt all about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. The children created some beautiful artwork related to this area of learning." Ms Sheehan

“Year 2 have once again blown myself, Mrs Menhal and Mrs Robins away with their amazing art projects! Last week, we asked the children to design and create their own robots at home, but we did not expect this level of hard work and detail. We had robots covered in buttons and dials, robots filled with wires and lights and even a robot that stands almost 3 feet tall!

Thank you to all the parents for supporting the children to produce such wonderful robots. Just have a look at how amazing they are!”

“This week in literacy, Year 4 have begun reading 'Leon and the Place Between' by Angela McAllister and Grahame Baker-Smith. Using the first illustration in the book (and our imaginations) we have written predictions of what we think the book will be about and what it’s title might be. We have also explored some of the characters through role play. We can't wait to find out what happens next in the story!” Ms McMillan Hind

“Last week we learnt about Jesus’ commandment “Love one another; as I have loved you”.

We talked about all the things we love, who we love and what we love to do. We then talked about how, at the moment, we can’t do some of the activities we love and that can be really hard.

We wrote messages of love to people in our community, or even ourselves, to show that we are thinking of everyone during this time”.

“In Year 5 we have been learning about the different cultures and backgrounds of our families. We thought about what life would be like in our class if we all had the same background. Mr Bridgford came into class to talk about his experience of migrating to the UK and how he values the diversity of languages, religions and ethnicities in London.” Mr Dunning

“Take a look at the poetry Year 6 have

written, inspired by World War One.

Together we read lots of WW1 poetry,

including Dulce et Decorum Est. by

Wilfred Owen. We then looked at images

of life in the trenches and used these as

a starting point for our own poems.”

Black History Month We set homework for the half-term break on the topic of Black History and had some fantastic

work back from our children. A huge well done!
