Developing the EAL Friendly Classroom in the EAL Friendly SchoolYour EAL pupils have the potential to make the most progress. Success with pupils for whom English is an Additional Language is very closely linked to the development of effective and self-aware talk between adults and children, between the children themselves and between adults in the classroom. Schools that successfully enable and empower EAL pupils involve all teaching and non-teaching staff. There is increasing research evidence that whole school effective EAL practice raises achievement for all the other pupils in the school. This seminar is designed for mainstream and subject teachers at every phase who are encountering EAL pupils in their classes. It will provide you with a sound understanding of the principles and research that underpins outstanding EAL provision and provide you with a wide range of practical strategies that will make every classroom an EAL friendly environment.

Deadlines, priorities, projects, initiatives, reports, meetings – sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day and we’re always fighting to catch up!! But not everyone feels this way. The truth is we all have the same amount of time; it’s what we do with that time that counts and some people have learnt how to make time work for them rather than the other way around. These are the people who get things done and feel good about their day and their achievements. In this course, you will learn their secrets – you’ll look at your current time management habits, which ones are serving you and which ones you need to let go. You will get dozens of useful tips for planning and prioritising your workload to become more effective not just busy. Plus, you’ll learn how to confidently manage the time stealers and overcome the biggest time thief of all – procrastination.
