Friday 26th March 2021 Week 24
CHANCELLOR PARK WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents We have finally made it- Easter beckons and the clocks change on Sunday!
It has been lovely to have the children back these past 3 weeks and the school reverting to some
kind of normality once again (or at least the ‘new norm’). The children, as always, have done really
well… returning after such a long period away from school in some challenging circumstances, they
have coped well but are certainly now in need of a proper break before a full-on summer term. Staff
have been busy carrying out some assessments with the children over the past couple of weeks
which will give us a really good baseline of the priorities for the summer term which teachers will be
working on with your children. We have also scheduled our Parent’s Evenings for Tuesday 27th April
and Wednesday 28th April. More details and invites for these will be distributed the first week back
after Easter, they will take place via Zoom as per last year.
Thank you all for your ongoing support for our measures to keep everyone safe, it is very much
appreciated.
School returns on Monday 12th April. May I politely remind
everyone of the expectation of full uniform –with plain
black/white trainers, logo polo shirts/jumpers/cardigans and
no extreme haircuts.
There will be uniform checks the first week back.
Remote Learning Feedback Questionnaire Thank you all for your valuable responses. Hopefully we will not be needing this facility again but as always we like to evaluate our actions and learn from them. Break the Rules Day!!! Thank you so much for everyone who donated to ‘Break the Rules’ day, we’ve received lots of positive comments about the event which has been lovely. So far we have raised £517 for the school, but it’s not too late to donate, the donation page will be
open until the end of tomorrow.

Update from DfE in relation to primary pupils and lateral flow testing
Public Health England have advised there are currently limited public health benefits attached to testing primary pupils with lateral flow devices. Primary age pupils may find the LFD testing process invasive and unpleasant and are unable to self-swab. We will review this approach in light of any emerging evidence.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE LATERAL TEST KITS PROVIDED FOR FAMILIES ARE FOR ADULT USE, ANY PRIMARY CHILD DISPLAYING SYMPTOMS OF COVID NEEDS TO BE BOOKED A PCR COVID TEST. IF THEY HAVE NON-COVID SYMPTOMS AND ARE JUST UNDER THE WEATHER THEN A TEST IS NOT REQUIRED.
Track & Trace over the Easter break
Please take time to review the expectations around reporting cases of COVID19 and undertaking contact tracing over the Easter holiday period.
As you know schools have played a vital role in reducing the spread of COVID-19 over the last 12 months. One way in which they have done this is by undertaking contact tracing on behalf of the Essex Contact Tracing team. They identify any individuals who have been in close contact at school with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, during the time that is considered the contagious period. This is from 2 days before the person’s symptoms are displayed. Those individuals are then required to self-isolate because they are at risk of having contracted COVID-19 and being contagious themselves.
This contact tracing will not be taking place in the usual way during the Easter break when schools are closed, and there is less chance of school-based contacts existing. Please follow the guidance below if your child begins to show symptoms of COVID19 during the Easter break.
If your child develops symptoms of COVID19 within 48 hours of being in school (Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th March) You must seek a test for your child and the household must isolate at home until the test result is returned. You should let your school know that this has occurred via the school’s email address ([email protected] stating your child’s name/class and the date the symptoms started. Please add COVID SYMPTOMS in the subject line to avoid it being missed.
The quickest way to obtain a test is to book a test at your local testing centre via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test. Please do not use postal tests unless absolutely necessary as these take longer.
Please notify the school of the outcome. If the test result is positive for COVID19, you must inform your school, who will identify if there are any other individuals within the school community who are impacted by this.
Email:[email protected] If the test result is negative, you should inform the school and you do not need to take any further action.
If your child develops symptoms of COVID19 more than 48 hours after their last day in school:
You must seek a test for your child and the household must isolate at home until the test result is returned.
If the test result is positive for COVID-19, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, (Monday 29th March onwards) you must contact NHS Test and Trace and follow the advice given by them: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-andtracing/
Please still notify the school in this instance of any positive test results, but there will be no need for contact tracing at this stage.
You should contact the school if your child will be absent in time for the first day of the new term as a result of showing COVID symptoms and/or a positive result.
Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support.

community.
