Sale Manager Comments – A NIGHT AT Remington Park VOL. I

It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to work with such a phenomenal set of breeders and cattle for this first ever, A Night at Remington Park. This sale is loaded with a tremendous

set of genetics from a wide range of influences, from the show side of the Angus business,

the performance side, and the high genomic side of the industry. It has been a crazy 2020,

and I am sure that most of us are ready to flip the page to 2021 and, therefore, we couldn’t

be more excited to kick off the year with such an incredible new sale in a great new city and

venue than Remington Park in Oklahoma City.

As you flip through this catalog, you will find an array of great heifer calves, elite bulls, and

genetic packages such as pregnancies and flushes to propel your current breeding program

to the next level. We have the upmost respect for each breeder involved, and we know you

will be very pleased with this set of genetics. A special “Thank you” to everyone involved for

    bringing their very best.

A Night at Remington Park came about after gentle pressure from a few consignors that had

been involved in the past National Finals Sale in Las Vegas, and with all the ups and downs

within our country recently, a few folks stepped up and said, “What about hosting a sale

in Oklahoma City?” My hat is off to Harris Penner, Kyle Conley, and their families for their

support and help with securing such a great location. We also want to thank Dustin Layton

and his ability to include such a great set of Hereford genetics in with us to have the two

most prominent breeds of cattle in one great event.

We want to invite each and every one of you to this special event for great hospitality, great

cattle, and a great time on January 8, 2021 at 4:30 pm CST!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the breeders represented in this sale or

feel free to contact the American Angus Hall of Fame at 816.532.0811.

  • A Night At Remington Park | 37 | January 8, 2021

On behalf of myself, Jeremy Haag and all the breeders offering genetics in this inaugural event, “A Night at Remington Park”, we welcome you to come out to Remington Park conveniently located 9 miles from the Cattlemen’s Congress to evaluate this elite offering of superior Hereford and Angus Genetics. I am super excited about this elite set of Hereford and Angus genetics the breeders have assembled for your appraisal as it is stacked deep and offers a wide range of genetic diversity.

Now a little about the Hereford offering. It may not be large in numbers but the quality and future earning potential is as high as you will find anywhere. At the front of the catalog we begin with three powerful herd bulls that will fit into a wide range of programs whether you are in the business of producing high end performance seed stock or show cattle. Next we come across a maternal sister and a heifer that is a direct daughter out of a full sister to the dam of the renowned Loewen Genesis G16 ET who has taken the Hereford breed by storm. A powerful show heifer with donor potential rounds out the open heifer division that stems from “Harley” a former National Champion herself who has had an extensive influence in the Hereford show ring. We only have 1 Spring bred heifer but if you like females that excel phenotypically and numerically take a strong look here! Another unique individual is 4064B a two time National Champion Female that stems from 3 National Champion Dams as well as her Sire being crowned a National Champion. In the pick, flush and frozen division we are starting with the pick of 6 ET calves sired by Genesis and out of the $125,000 valued dam 7098. Next is a pick of flush from one of the elite Line 1 Hereford herds in America. We round out the Hereford offering with 50 units of Genesis semen the hottest bull to surface in the Hereford breed in some time.

In closing have a Happy Holiday season and safe travels to the Inaugural Cattlemen’s Congress located in Oklahoma City. If you have any questions about the offering please do not hesitate to contact myself, Jeremy Haag or any of the sale staff as we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

    Sincerely,Dustin N. Layton (405) 464-2455

    • Trending is certainly one of the unique Herd Bulls to surface from the 2020 Barber Ranch calf crop. Currently he is the #10 bull in the Hereford breed when you search the Hereford database and use his EPD profile for CE, BW, WW, YW, REA and Marb. Trending himself had an actual BW of 85 lbs. and an adjusted WW of 818 lbs. posting impressive individual performance ratios of 97 and 112 respectively. His dam has 4 progeny that have recorded average ratios of 99.8 for BW and 103 for WW. 2 progeny have recorded an average YW ratio of 104.5. Trending’s lineage speaks for itself as his pedigree combines some of the most influential donors, 3029, 5082 and 8130, to ever grace the pastures at Barber Ranch.

    • Trending is something to spectate in person as he is short marked, dark red in color, heavy pigmented and is absolutely flawless in his build and design. He is a power bull that will add hip, shape, body and structural integrity to his offspring. One thing that really separates Trending from his contemporaries is the power he displays with tremendous body type and his exceptional phenotype. Barber Ranch and GKB Cattle plan on using Trending extensively in their breeding programs as they feel he is truly one of the unique power polled Hereford bulls to surface in quite some time.

    • What an opportunity to acquire a Herd Bull of this stature that is certainly the way the Beef industry and Hereford breed is Trending today.

Genesis has sold 255 straws at public auction to date that has grossed in excess of $200,000. Genesis froze high quality IVF and flush quality semen at just 10 months of age and the first calves hit the ground this past fall and the calves will get you excited about the Hereford breed. Her maternal sisters were crowned Champion Pen of Three at the National Western Stock Show last year and the pick of the three heifers was offered in the Spring Barber Ranch Bull Sale commanding $50,000 to GKB Cattle.

    • John Loewen has been breeding Hereford cattle for 60 years and when he tells you he has good one you better believe it. When H21 hit the ground John called and said, “I think I have another Genesis but it is a heifer this time”. Sired by the ever-popular Who Maker whose semen is scarce and will command in excess of $1,500 per straw when you can find it. The dam, Amy, is sired by Roll the Dice and is a direct daughter of the former National Champion female known as “Harley”. Harley has certainly left her mark in the Hereford breed and still continues today 15 years after she was crowned Grand Champion at the 2006 National Western.

    • Amber is striking in her appearance as she is clean chested, ultra-cool fronted, big barreled, square hipped and sound in structure. Is what separates Amber from many of her contemporaries as she combines elegance with power. It is hard to find females that are that cool fronted and clean chested yet still have rib and muscle shape. When you study her EPD profile you can see she offers performance, maternal strength and valued added REA.
