As a Fire Is Meant for Burning

As a fire is meant for burningwith a bright and warming
flame,so the church us meant
for mission,giving glory to God’s name.
Not to preach our creeds or customs,
but to build a bridge of care,we join hands across
the nations,finding neighbors everywhere.
We are learners; we are teachers;
we are pilgrims on the way.We are seekers;
we are givers;we are vessels made of clay.
By our gentle, loving actionswe would show that
Christ is light.In a humble, listening Spiritwe would live to God’s delight.
As a green bud in the springtime
is a sign of life renewed,so may we be signs
of oneness‘mid earth’s peoples,
many hued.
As a rainbow lights the heavens
when a storm is past and gone,
may our lives reflect the radiance
of God’s new and glorious dawn.
A Covenant Prayer in the
Wesleyan Tradition
All: I am no longer my own, but thine.Leader:Put me to what thou wilt
People:Rank me with whom thou wilt.
Leader:Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
People:Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,
Leader:exalted for thee
People:or brought low for thee.
Leader:Let me be full, let me be
empty.
People:Let me have all things,
Leader:let me have nothing.
All:I freely and heartily yield all things, to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
Go live from the Recognition of Newly Licensed Local Pastors and Prayer for Local Pastors to the Blessing and Benediction
Blessing and Benediction (in unison)Almighty God, may the
grace of ministry rest upon these your servants and
may the opportunity to serve lead them into the fullness of your calling.
Clothe them with your righteousness,
and grant that they may glorify you
by giving themselves to others, through Jesus
Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Christ for the WorldWe Sing
UMH 568. Words: Words: Samuel Wolcott, 1869; Music: Felice de Fiardini, 1769 OneLicense.net E-801569. All rights reserved.
Christ for the world we sing,the world to Christ we bring,with loving zeal;
the poor, and them that mourn,the faint and overborne,sin-sick and sorrow-worn,whom Christ doth heal.
Christ for the world we sing,the world to Christ we bring,with fervent prayer;
the wayward and the lost,by restless passions tossed,redeemed at countless cost,from dark despair.
Christ for the world we sing,the world to Christ we bring,with one accord;
with us the work to share,with us reproach to dare,with us the cross to bear,for Christ our Lord.
Christ for the world we sing,the world to Christ we bring,with joyful song;
the new-born souls, whose days,reclaimed from error's ways,inspired with hope and praise,to Christ belong.
