Please read the following Judging Criteria. Note that by participating in the Competition, you agree to abide by the rules as stated.
Quality of the Analysis
Your team’s performance will be judged based on the depth of analysis, assumptions made, the viability and appropriateness of your recommendations, and the logic of your arguments.
Professionalism of Presentation
The panel of Judges will assess the organization, clarity, and timeliness of each team’s presentation. Continuity of thought and purpose are also important.
Responsiveness of Participants to Judges’ Questions and Comments
Judges will examine how adeptly team members react to questions and support each other. The Judges will also evaluate the timeliness and skill with which teams marshal supporting evidence and explanations for their analysis and recommendations.
The Rules
Each team should bring their own laptop computers. Printing facilities will be provided. No outside material is permitted inside the preparation rooms. A projector will be provided for MS PowerPoint presentations.
The teams have six hours to prepare the case and 25 minutes to present before the panel of judges. Presentations should be 15 minutes and the question and answer segment will last approximately 10 minutes.
You are not allowed to consult outside material or sources in your analysis (no internet, no cell phone calls, etc.). Violations of these rules are grounds for immediate disqualification.

Carnegie Mellon's campus, located five miles from downtown Pittsburgh, thrives in the heart of the business and research districts in the Oakland part of the city. Bordered by quaint residential neighborhoods and the wooded hills of a scenic park, the 100-acre campus provides an academic environment that combines the best of both worlds — an urban campus in a green setting.
